Any WinVICE gurus around?

Have a major stumbling block in my implementation of c64 (WinVICE).

Basically going for a mouse/keyboard free setup of HS with the help of Padstarr.

WinVICE is 98% there except for one issue....Flip lists.

I built a fliplist for every multi-disk game and can scroll them with the gamepad once loaded...but loading them is the issue.

Is there a way to have RL launch each game from the command line so I can add the -fliplistname parameter. This would concurrently load the respective fliplist along with the game.

You might get better success with this by posting in the RL forums.

I have to agree with tonesmalone. While there are some HS users with a decent knowledge-base with this sort of thing, a more complicated issue like this involving a non-standard module operation will definitely be best answered gy the gurus over there.

I don't even know what a fliplist is, so not going to be much help here, but currently setting up C64 myself...

I found it relatively simple once I had the right romset etc, but there is a huge issue with keypresses at the start of most games as they're all hacked.

I'm hoping that they are all just Y/N (seem to be), in which case I might end up allocating my P1/P2 or something to those keys, but if anyone knows a way around this i'd love to hear it!!

A fliplist is basically a list that Vice spits out for multi-disk games.

Let's say you want to play Winter Games, for example.

You would boot side A then, while in gake, attach side B to drive 8 and choose "add image to fliplist" and do each subsequent side in tue same fashion. Once all sides are added, you'd save the flip list and Vice will spit out a text file containing the list data.

So this way when you load the game next time you can just load the fliplist and scroll through the disks with whatever buttons you have assigned them too. (Default in vice is Alt+B (backwards) and Alt+N (forwards).

In regards to your issue with the "hacked" c64 games...I believe you're talking about the newer scene releases by groups like Nostalgia and Remember. They wrote trainers for a lot of their re-releases and have intros and texts that require you to hit RUN/STOP to start them (RUN/STOP is mapped by default to ESC in Vice)

You'd be doing yourself a massive favor by recruiting Xpadder, Joy to Key or Padstarr for emulators like c64 (if keyboard/mouse free is a benefit to your gameflow).

C64 controls have a single fire button on 90%+ of the titles. If you have a 16 button or more gamepad you can really do a lot with them for Vice.

Sorry Chinmuzik, I mentioned starting a new thread aboyt this and should have said the RL forum.

I thought RL could handle multi disc games. Also there is a Rom set which doesn't have the trainers.

And controls will always be a problem but you can set profiles for problem games.
