Styphelus
Does anyone check what's being uploaded to the Downloads section of this site? Since Circo started updating the DBs, I seem to be missing a few things here and there so I turned to the downloads section and what I'm finding is terrible. Take this supposedly "complete" cart pack for the Genesis http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/11194-sega-genesis-complete-cart-pack/ 1. It's not complete. It's missing a few games 2. There are over 200 miss named carts with version numbers attached to them. Not sure where that db came from but never came from this site 3. The artwork is terrible. Even the old cart set from this site had better artwork. Good thing I checked first before overwriting my old set. 4. The carts came from different sets. Some are 2D, some are 3D, some are a weird 3D angle. Who the heck put this thing together? And this is just one example. I can go one about the stuff I've been finding in the downloads section. Downloaded a wheel set for the PC-Engine - atrocious as well. Sega Master System - there are 3 or 4 sets of box art. Why? There should only be 1 - the one from DamnedRegistrations. The list goes on. We're looking more and more like those cheap Spanish Hyperspin sites full of crappy art work.
pofo14
Does this issue exist if you use hypersync as well? I have been primarily using that and haven't gone to the DL section for artwork. What can we do to resolve it? Is it just a manner of manual organization?
THK
Before we moved to the new site, we had a long period with the downloads section being pretty well moderated. At some point this kinda fell behind. With the new site however we got a new downloads section with another layout and other policies. IMO it kinda became a mess (no discrespect towards whoever worked on it as I know from experience it's a major undertaking) As it is now I personally don't see this changing soon. However we do have HyperSync which is updated periodically. With the Vault (Google Drive with a lot of source artwork & WIP accessible only to contributors) being used for a lot of artwork sets that are being worked on we hope to keep adding completed projects to HyperSync. HyperSync is intended to be replaced at some point with a better system, namely HyperBase Live. This however is quite the undertaking and won't be viable for a public release anytime soon. In the end, everything has to pretty much be handled by hand, so it's no surprise we have had a few people (including me) come & gone with involvement keeping things up. This is a tedious task and really only fun to do for a while when there's a lot of good stuff coming in new or you're being part of said good stuff coming in. So people at times find the muster to deal with it but it won't last. If only this was an easy undertaking.
SubZero
The thing is that there is alot of stuff being made at the moment especially artwise. so everybody is in his own little section doing his thing and that takes away time from other stuff site related. but we have a little staff meeting this weekend so all this will get adressed and fixed as soon as we can.
