DJQuad
Hey all, so the next project will be going full-retro and building a full size cabinet. Every single step will be documented - actually live-streaming the entire build on Twitch, starting from when the doorbell rings, to unboxing the cabinet hardware, to physically building the cabinet, to setting up a fairly stock HyperSpin/RocketLauncher/MAME install. Those that miss the live build on Twitch, it will also be on YouTube as well as a separate, time-lapsed version. So I kinda have my eye on http://www.recroommasters.com/32_Pro_Upright_Xtension_Arcade_Cabinet_Emulator_p/rm-xt-32-pro-ee.htm for the cab itself. Seems pretty solid but I'd like to trick out the control panel with a different control panel that takes advantage of LED lights / LEDBlinky. I'm not interested in doing a ton of wiring like what https://gameroomsolutions.com/shop/2-player-led-arcade-control-panel-bundle-kit would require, just a controller that fits the cab similar to http://www.recroommasters.com/Xtension_4_Player_Control_Board_p/rm-xt-sd-board-4p.htm. A friend will be setting up the software end of things, basically just a base install of HyperSpin/RocketLauncher/MAME with a handful of plugins like HyperSearch, HyperSpeech, possibly a better theme, etc. I'm not interested in getting a pre-configured HyperSpin drive for obvious reasons. It won't by any means be software tutorials like the great ones such as Simply Austin, The AV Archivist, and others provide. The build would be focused on building the cabinet itself. Any advice would be appreciated and referenced back to this thread. Thanks!
Metalzoic
What are the questions? EDIT: Nevermind. I missed the "any advice appreciated bit". There's another recent thread on here (within a few days) of someone that just built that same cab and CP and gave it a bit of a rundown. Probably a good place for you to start. DJQuad
Yep I already read that. Thanks. Are Rec Room Masters pretty much the defacto in arcade cabinet parts? I actually haven't been able to find many companies like them that sell the parts. Same thing for the control board. The ones they sell don't have LEDs for the buttons. DJQuad
http://www.monsterarcades.com/#!product/prd1/896110754/monster-upright-arcade-kit looks pretty cool but I'd rather not paint it. I'd rather just put it together. http://www.monsterarcades.com/#!control-panels/c1h4d looks cool.

Metalzoic
Back when I was considering going this route I ran across a few companies that build cabs that are more authentic looking the the recroom ones, but I can't remember them. One place out of Australia, a couple out of the Uk. Most of the real looking ones don't come as kits like the recroom ones though. You could also search around your area for old arcade machines being sold or even MAME machines you could easily convert.
