djordman Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Hi guys, I've tried searching the forums but couldn't find this particular issue. SSF is only a three letter query and unfortunately you can't search the forum for words that short. I've read back quite a number of pages. Plenty of people got problems getting SSF to run, but nobody seems to have much trouble once they have the games running... Well, I do. I have SSF 0.12 R4 running outside Hyperspin and inside as well. Various games I tried so far launch fine. I use the multinorm bios for all 3 regions. Problem is, the graphics are messed up. I have black horizontal stripes appearing seemingly random all over the screen. They flicker all over. In some games it's really bad. I notice the launch sequence (before the games load) looks fine. After that it goes bad. Tried tinkering with the various graphics settings (like enabling/disabling deinterlace, scanlines on and off, DSP thread, aspect ratio, full-screen or windowed, aspect ratio, stretch) but none of that seems to make any difference as far as I can tell. I run Windows 7 64 bit in an i7 3rd generation PC 8 GB and my video card is ATI. It's directX 11 compatible and my DirectX drivers are up to date. From what I understand SSF is DirectX 9 but DirectX 11 should be backwards compatible with DirectX 9. I've searched Google also. Seems some other people have this problem, but no solution was posted. Well, none that work for me, anyway. Does anyone have any idea how I can fix this? I got the games to launch in SSF so - having made it this far - I really don't want to have to resort to Yabause -Hyperspin Project progress: Got most emulators running fine now! I got the games to launch in SSF so - having made it this far - I really don't want to have to resort to Yabause SSF has I think 4 differen't tiers of graphic/compatibility settings in the options menu, they are in the tabs to the right, you should have it set to the most compatible setting which i believe is the last one. Your machine will more than handle it.
djordman Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Hi, thanks for the tip. There's 5 settings but none of those 5 make a difference. The flickering remains -Hyperspin Project progress: Got most emulators running fine now! Software wise I'm nearing completion. Time to start pondering over what cab I want
zerojay Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 What games are you running where you are seeing this? I'm kind of wondering if you are playing a game that runs in high resolution mode and needs deinterlacing turned on (Virtual Fighter 2, for example).
djordman Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Well, the worst example so far is a Japanese game Shienryu. Half the screen is obscured with lines in that one. Virtua Fighter Remix (USA) looks reasonable. Keio Flying Squadron (PAL) looks good. That's the best game so far. I notice that in windowed mode SSF runs in 320 x 224 resolution. From DJVJ's module I gather it should be 640x480 so maybe the resolution is wrong and that's breaking the graphics? Can't tell what the resolution is in full-screen. Should be 1024 x 768 but how can I tell? I'll try to enforce the resolution somehow. Back to Google -Hyperspin Project progress: Got most emulators running fine now! Agrajag Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 It appears this is a bug that was introduced in the new release. I've just set up SSF for the first time and am having the same problem on Win 7 64bit with Nvidia graphics (660 ti) when running 0.12 R4, although they are bright coloured lines, not black. Fiddling with all the settings made no difference so I installed R3 instead and the problem has gone away. HyperSpin behaving oddly? djordman Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Thanks! Switched to R3 and the problem is gone. I never used SSF before so I didn't think to try an earlier version. Cheers!! -Hyperspin Project progress: Got most emulators running fine now! Software wise I'm nearing completion. Time to start pondering over what cab I want
Agrajag Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 No problem. Never used it myself before yesterday! There were apparently a lot of improvements made in R4 so it's a shame about this bug. Hopefully there'll be another update soon. HyperSpin behaving oddly? djordman Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Well I suppose most people here are using R4 without our particular problem. I even tried a more recent "test version" of SSF but that didn't work either. Well, glad I got something that works now -Hyperspin Project progress: Got most emulators running fine now! gigalula Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Same bug for me with r4 and all is fine Under R3 I use a GTX 680 so this should not be a problem of speed I think... Hopping for a fix soon
Agrajag Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Worse still, I've tried running SSF with a USB monitor connected as a marquee (having set up HyperSpinHelper again) and found that R3 closes immediately, and won't play any games. R4 works, glitchy lines aside, but HyperSpin is shifted to the right so it covers most of the marquee. Oh well... HyperSpin behaving oddly? dhuynh Posted January 2, 2014 Posted January 2, 2014 I have the same problem. Tried with differents games and on different machines.. both ATI and Nividia... Both computer are 64 bit though... Will have to try a 32 bit computer to see. Tested SSF 0.12 Beta R4, R4, R2, and R1 .. none of which worked well.
Konamito Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Sorry but I have the same problem using 0.12 beta 4 version... I play on i3 with Intel HD Graphics card. Also, DirectX is updated and I've played around with all configurations in the options menu. Any clue on this? MSXBlog Tenerife Go Retro
