Dolphin doesn't always exit completely

When I hit escape on any emulator, it closes it. Completely. I can instantly select another game and viola, boots right up. That's what we love about Hyperspin!

However, I'm working on my Nintendo Revolution wheel and whenever I hit escape, Dolphin will close... sort of.

Sometimes it does what it's supposed to and I can instantly boot another game. Most of the time though, while it 'closes' the program, and you try to boot another game nothing happens.

Further investigation showed rocketlauncher would pop up in the notification area for a split second before disappearing. I know from previous experience, this happens when the emulator is already running. Seeing as how I didn't have it open on the taskbar or notification area, I turned to Task Manager.

Sure enough, there it is dolphin.exe, still running... I have to close that manually with Task Manager before I can boot another game.

How do I fix this? It kind of ruins the whole point if I have to always pull out a keyboard, hit Ctrl+Shift+Delete, pull out a mouse, close the program, and navigate back to hyperspin just to boot another game.

What version of dolphin are you using?

Do you have directx9 and higher installed and c++ 2010 and higher?

Dolphin version: Ishiiruka.420(beb4a2f).x64

DX9 and C++2010 are both installed as well.

The emulator itself runs just fine and all, i just played a few rounds mario kart lol

But it won't kill the process when it closes.

I tried out the regular Dolphin 4.0 and it doesn't have this issue.

Now I just need to figure out how to optimize graphics. This version isn't quite as fast lol.

Not familiar with your build but instead of escape, you could try the more traditional windows exit command: Alt+F4

Well, to clarify. I hold Select and press start (Or hold Start and push C, depending on the controller)

In Xpadder, this is set to Escape.

I did it that way because that's how RocketLauncher closes the emulators, with Escape.

I'm not sure how changing just the combo keys would work, or if I'd need to update RocketLauncher's command somehow as well. I know it would just kill it either way, but still.

Yeah 4.0 was a little slow for me too. I think I'm running 5.0 now but I'm not at home I'll have to check later.

I thought 4.0 was the latest version, if you have 5 please let me know lol.

Also, now that I'm on 4.0, I get an Error message that Dolphin has stopped working.... have to click "Close Program" now lol. This is ridiculous.

Yeah I'm using 5.0 rc-34 I think I got it from gigapigs 51 systems up load.

As for the other issues I'm not too sure why dolphin stops working for you. Have you tried messing around with the settings?

Where would one find an official resource for such a version?

On the Dolphin website, the latest one is:

4.0-9217 4 minutes ago

lol, so I am confused.

As for the settings, I have configured a whole bunch, but I have no idea where to begin on a setting that would affect it's exit.

I don't think there is an official release of 5.0 yet.

As for dolphin closing on you I'm not sure. I have an old i7 and I don't have any problem.

I know the Ishiiruka build you were using helps run things a little better but i've never used it.

Sorry I can't be more help.

No worries, You've still pointed me towards some kind of v5.0 that's out there...

I just need to find where to get these development builds past what is on the dolphin site lol.

I saw something from the dev steam stating that 4.0 was way slower than 5.
