I have a plethora of rom sets, but unfortunately, they are not Hyperspin ready.  I have several tools listed below along with a small example of files that would need renaming...I can't sem to get these tools to work properly.  For the life of me I am not to sure how they compile those .XML, but thankfully they do...too bad they don't have sets name correctly on other sites.

Dons Hyperspin Tools 4.3.26

CRCCheck 0.0.0.2

HyperSpin Asset XML Audit

HyperspinChecker_bin_0.007

HyperspinChecker_src_0.006

Tur-Matcher 1.13

FatMatch

HyperROM2XML

Perfect Match.03

Banzai Babes 1 - Cindy & Claudia by Dan Doore (1994) (PD) [a1]

Banzai Babes 1 - Cindy & Claudia by Dan Doore (1994) (PD)

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World) [a1]

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World) [a2]

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World) [a3]

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World)

Desired Results would be selecting the best rom and name it as it is in Hyperspin.xml file

Looks like a TOSEC romset. Those are quite bad to use if you're going for automatic matching since they have several versions for the same game.

For example

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World) [a1]

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World) [a2]

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World) [a3]

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World)

4 roms for the same game. "a" means alternative.

I'd look for other romsets, like NoIntro or similar. Or you could move away all the [a*] systems so only the one without it remains.

Of course, I recommend Tur-Matcher for some reason =)

I use FatMatch but you need a base set of files to match it against.

What I do is to download the relevant minted system wheel set from the forum download section and use that as the baseline "rom" set to match and rename your actual misnamed rom set to.

I do multiple scan passes starting at an matching accuracy level of 85% which should scoop up and rename most unless your romsets are very misnamed, then decrease the match accuracy by 10% each time down to about 55% at minimum.

Using this method eventually you will rename your whole set of misnamed roms to match the minted wheelset or at the most be left with a handful which you can rename manually.

a better question is what rom sets do I(you)  have?

your best bet is to get the 36+ Gig No-Intro Set

this will get you most of the common cart based systems.

the reason you want No-Intro sets is because the CRCs found in the Hyperpsin XMLs are based on the No-Intro roms.

You can use Dons tools; lucky for you.  You have the version that can ignore CRCs and guess the name based on the current name.

from your example

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World) [a1]

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World) [a2]

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World) [a3]

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (1994) (Dream World)

Dons will guess that all this roms are named

Curse of the Serpent's Eye, The (USA)

this is another reason why you want to have No-Intro sets.

their are no duplicates roms, You will only find a single rom for each game.

and on a side note.

No-Intro does not release CD/DVD based rom sets,   you will find no CRCs in any CD/DVD based systems on a Hyperspin XML.

your best bet is to use the "Guess" method with Dons tools and rename your cue files manually,

you can avoid all this if you download a hyperspin ready set from the various locations.
