HyperSync does not update database - what do I need to do?

Hey all!

 

Ok so, I've got my hyperspin running and Mame figured out. However, when I scroll through the roms for MAME (which is the only emulator that I have right now), there is no artwork or small movie displayed of the game.

 

To me, that means I have no artwork or themes. I've followed simplyaustin's tutorials on setting up hyperspin and everything, but I can't figure out hypersync, and this is where I believe I have a problem.

 

I've set up hypersync, but for some reason, maybe I did not set it up correctly. When I try to Sync (with MAME selected of course), instantaneously I get the notification that it's completed ("updated"). Nothing was loaded, I've got no artwork or anything. 

 

I know that you're supposed to directed certain folders (I forgot, it's been a month since I looked at it and remembered to make a thread on this), but other than that I have no clue. 

 

 

I did see on one of simplyaustin's tutorials for hypersync that we may have to donate in order TO sync? Is that correct? Is this what I need to do in order to actually get all the necessary artwork and have all the themes/little movies etc etc for all my MAME roms?
