Overlay - video size

Does anyone know how to take the guess work out of the video - overlay size in HT.

I have tried everything.

I maybe missing something.

So far Ive managed to find my way about HT and answered my own questions but I can't figure this out.

I've looked at the video size and made the overlay accordingly but it is still too big or too small.

I have a video 640x480, I place an overlay the same size into HT and its twice the size.

My emumovies videos have black borders on the left and right side of the video which affects the enlarging of the video to fit the overlay. The top and bottom of the overlay fits but the black columns left and right jut out at the sides.

Any ideas.

You look at the video size and make an overlay accordingly? I'm not sure what you mean by that.

Make the overlay the size you want the video to be. I create my themes in Photoshop, then import them into HT.

For the video you want an FLV test video that you can use to fine tune your video placement in HT.

Import your vid and set the video options to Force Aspect Both, then move and adjust the video to where you want it, then if you're using an overlay for the video border adjust it to fit and you're done.

If you're making a theme for widescreen remember that you need to squish everything horizontally before you open it in HT.

I looked at the video size 640x480 and made an overlay accordingly 640x480 but as I said the overlay is bigger when loaded into HT. Spent ages in PS resizing and placing into HT, took several attempts...

Might work...

 

Hypertheme snapshot (of my entire theme) - load said snapshot into photoshop - then I can judge and fix the overlay size straight onto the video snapshot - to resize it directly onto the video. I have HT saving my snapshots at the correct display size.

It has worked for this one, so fingers crossed for my other attempts.
