Can someone running 174 test a MAME game for me?

Updated to MAMEUIFX 174 and have noticed that a few games that worked fine in previous versions now give an error

"Required shared pointer 'mainram' not found" then "Fatal error. Missing some required objects. unable to proceed"

I can't remember the other games that did this, but Asylum is one.

Can someone test to see if this is happening with their MAME 174 build as well?

I had it happen with 3 games I randomly just tried. I have 7000+ games and have probably only tried 20 of them with 3 getting this error. Either that's a huge coincidence or there are a lot of games with this issue.

Why were MAME and Mamesick fighting? Is this only happening with MAMEUIFX or is it with MAME itself?

EDIT: I can't find any mention of it on Mamedevs or Mameworld... although the forums at both places are a nightmare to navigate. Searching the site for "mainram" pulls up nothing.

that was for a game I hadn't even tried, so definitely must be happening with quite a few.

It says they fixed that game, but no mention of any others. Hopefully they release an updated version with everything fixed?

Otherwise I guess I just need to wait for 175 or revert back to 173... Lame.

So 0.175 is out and with a bunch of fixes. I haven't been able to tell from the changelog or other discussions if the issue is fixed, though. Has anyone tried 0.175, yet?

I just tried asylum on .175 and it booted without issues.

Awesome to hear!

Since that particular game isn't mentioned in the fix (that I read anyway) that should mean that the glitch that messed up all those games is fixed.

Someone want to try GLSL on Arch Rivals to see if those games are still whack?

OK, thanks for checking. No biggie I'll just give those games the fixed custom HLSL ini... Do you know if 175 will work with 174 ini's & cfg's or do they all need to be redone?

I wonder if Gauntlet Dark Legacy actually works now too.

mame is up on the download, and mameuifx will be uploaded tomorrow...

no need to force any input on compiled anymore,

it can all be done now on mame.ini

with the device providers.

changing from auto to rawinput or dinput... will be the setting for force input

edit: mameuifx 0.175 is uploaded... enjoy... description of the download was done in a hurry... very tired and going to bed

FYI - you asked about ini file differences between 0.174 and 0.175. There are two changes, focused entirely on HLSL for vector games. Everything else looks the same.

Where and what exactly are the ini settings for dinput/raw input?

 

And so far the games that didn't work before seem to now. If raw input works then I'd say this is a good build and I'll probably stick with it for a long time.

Of course that's unless some problems crop up.

Dark Legacy is still busted it seems, it still just boots to a black screen for me. I'm not sure about the ini and cfg files, I don't actually play games a whole lot recently so I don't have a bunch of specific configs. I only use glsl so I'm not sure about any hlsl ini changes either.

Dark Legacy does work in 175. I have it on screen as I type this. Took it a minute to fire up the very first time, but fires right up now.

So far in 175: Raw/Direct input is fixed. The broken games from 174 are fixed. Dark Legacy works again. HLSL was updated to adjust for the games that appear weird. Added several games to working status. Didn't move any games to not-working (that I saw). Phulsofs new XML has more info in it than before. Everything so far has been running like a champ.

I'd say 175 is a pretty damn good version. Anyone find any issues with it yet?
