Arcanthur Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Recently got a great deal on a cabinet that I'm building a new CP for. I want to cover the top with a black textured vinyl. Something with durable and a little rough feeling. Would something like this work or has anyone tried this? http://www.parts-express.com/black-textured-vinyl-laminate-2-ft-x-18-ft--261-618 I was reading something about Protac Emerytex covered vinyl and wondered if the above would be similar in texture?
RidicRick Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Depends on whether you want a custom graphic on your CP overlay or just black. Here is the closest thing you can get to what arcades actually used. "inexpensive alternative to polycarbonate overlay" and its clear so you can have your graphics under neath it.
Arcanthur Posted February 7, 2014 Author Posted February 7, 2014 Not sure about the design just yet. I was thinking maybe just black with labels for the buttons. What about http://www.gameongrafix.com/ ? Is the material they use for control panels textured or glossy smooth?
majorspawn Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 I used blackboard vinyl on mine which is thicker and durable but not textured, why dont you conciser carbon paper vinyl? something like this? http://www.gamart.com.au/Products/Item/tabid/100/Method/ItemDetail/ItemNo/A3834S/Default.aspx My Arcade Projects: SNES PC Project Vewlix Cabinet LS-30 Rotary Joysticks
mikekim Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Try searching for tolex. It's what they use on speaker cabs Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk
y0ul053 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 I really don't know what people use on cabs, but if you want marine/upholstery grade stuff I just so happen to run a surplus warehouse
