this monstrosity is about 14 feet long, slightly more than 7 feet tall, and 18 inches deep

will take up almost an entire wall of my upcoming 15 foot by 13 foot game-room

i purchased this entire shelving set-up (seen above) for only $172 us dollars .... from a store like this (see pic below)
they were trying to unload extras

these are industry-standard / heavy duty shelves....i think this would have cost $600-700 or MORE brand new from a supply store

I threw my monitor away years ago it broke. But if you have the monitor cable like I do it hooks up to standard rca plugs on a regular tv. Nothing like some real c64 on my 60" dlp. Love it!

How did they know the drive is broke? Those things need the heads initialized periodically otherwise it stops reading disks.

Would have been cool if it had a 1581 or 1571 drive.. still 40 is a steal imho.

Bummer on that. I would open it up and have a look. That old shit is so easy to spot bad caps, diodes, etc. You and your son will enjoy that c64 for sure!

@craiganderson thats pretty neat. I had a C64 in the 80s and 90s with the copy disk. With a few classmates, we swapped and copied games in the 80s and we had thousands, so much fun!!

nice little game room your building up there. I started to sell off most of my collection years ago. As I got older I lost interest personally, in hardcore collecting, but still love seeing it and

never lost interest in gaming or PC gaming. Took a few years to sell everything, and only kept a small handful of things. wasn't the biggest collection ever but would be a massive list :)

was almost complete a few game sets as well, have not had a moment of regret selling. had moved once or twice with it all as well, was a pain in the ass, lol. Great that you and your

son can enjoy some of that together. good times !!!

also the C64 monitor I had, served as a pretty good gaming monitor until the late 90s and it finally gaffed out. It worked prefect (great colors) for NES, SNES, Genesis

and Sega CD at that time because of the outlets on the back and had S-video cord outlet that hooked up to the sega. Replaced it with sony trinitron flat screen after it died.
