mattyb425 Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 I want to begin with an apology for posting this to begin with. Ive searched the forums and I know this question has been asked and answered multiple time, but none of the fixes have worked for me... I cannot get hyperspin to search by letter when in any wheel. I can only think the problem is with the xml because when i first got the cabinet, the search function worked on mame (MAME was the only wheel that came preinstalled.) since then i have added multiple console wheels, and also added games to my MAME wheel. once i updated the xml for MAME, the search function no longer worked. Indexing is set to true in all xmls and the first game of every letter is set Image"A" and so fourth. I have tried going through my entire nintendo xml and changing the image from lower case to capitol letters, i have tried running it both with "use xml indexes" on and off in hyper hq. What else could I be missing??? Any help would be appreciated!!
mattyb425 Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 Also, i would like to add, that all the wheels i am working on, have well over the 26 game minimum for thr search feture to work.
tcmt Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 well to make sure it is something with your .xml, you could download the official database xml for mame here and try if that xml works. or any other system really. if it really is your xml, try to compare it to the official database and see if there are any obvious differences
mattyb425 Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 The only xml that isn't official is the MAME xml, but like I said, that was working before. I currently have the official xml from her for nes, snes, genesis, n64, sega32x. I did use dons rom renamer for all the consoles other than MAME. But I did base that off the official xmls. What would I want to be looking for as far as differences in the database to roms?
tcmt Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 no i meant you edited the xml and after that the letter jump function didn't work anymore. so maybe revert to an unedited version (download a fresh copy of the official ones here) and see if it makes a difference when you use those. that would be step one in troubleshooting. that way we can make sure that it has something to do with you editing the xml. that has nothing to do with the roms.
mattyb425 Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 downladed the most recent xml for mame from the databases and no change
tcmt Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 then i can only assume that it isn't the xml files but your hyperspin installation. from what i could gather you bought one of those preconfigured and preinstalled drives for hyperspin, right?(please correct me if I'm wrong but thats what i read from your first post). problems are to be expected in that case. my suggestion is to make a fresh install of hyperspin and restart from there.
mattyb425 Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 no, this was not a preconfigured drive. it was a full on cabinet build. the company I bought it from installed a version of hyperspin, wit mame pre installed. I have since then updated to the most recent version of hyperspin. Even after the update, the search by letter functioned worked. It was not until I added a few more arcade games that I wasn't able to search. which is why I thought it had to be an issue with the xmls... but they are all official xlms now. I think its bothering me more because I cant figure it out.
tcmt Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 try a fresh install on another location on your drive, configure that installation via hyperHQ, copy all official xml's you need to the new installation. try and test if this installation works as intended (letter jump included). if it does, start moving your resources from your old installation (media, themes, roms etc.) to your new installation step by step and check at regular intervals if the letter jump function still works. that is the only solution i can come up with. but maybe someone else has still some idea idk. ps.: it is a long shot but have you reconfigured your keys maybe? and forgot to map some? might just be that you accidentally reconfigured your controls and are now hitting the "wrong" keys when you try to activate letter jump?
mattyb425 Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 the only remapping i have done was through the emulators themselfves. is there a keyboard shortcut for the letter search? its always possible i changed something withoyut even fully realising it
tcmt Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 go to hyperHQ and check it out. there is a tab for configuring controls. the letter jump is just holding down the directional keys though, so there is no specific key for it.
Metalzoic Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 It sounds to me like you either don't have the controls set to do that set in HyperHQ. Or you had them set at one point but changed or deleted it.
mattyb425 Posted July 29, 2016 Author Posted July 29, 2016 yea, that's what it was....im an asshole lol sorry for wasting your time, I have absolutely no memory of remapping the controls in hyperhq. I appreciate the help though!!!
ninja2bceen Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Try index on mame in hyperhq Advance the cause to 100%. http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ Planet Geekdom, Subscribe for Tutorials! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdcby-s2GwriaOHGmVC2vGA?sub_confirmation=1&app=desktop
