djrthomson Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 The biggest problem I've had with my HyperSpin setup is the controller situation. I've got around 80 systems emulated and my original plan was to use controllers as close to the original system as I could and also have the ability to have it setup to allow at least for two player games. So here's what I ended up with: 2 x PlayStation DualShock 2 using a USB adapter (used for NES, SNES, PlayStation, etc) 2 x Saturn controllers using a USB adapter (used for Mega Drive, Saturn, PC Engine, etc) 2 x N64 controllers using a USB adapter (the only controller to really works with N64 games) 2 x Xbox 360 controllers (used for DreamCast, analogue arcade games, etc) 2 x Speedlink Competition pro USB (used for Atari 2600, 8/16-bit home computers, etc) 2 x Hori Fighting Stick Mini (used for digital arcade games, etc) 1 x USBButton (used as a catch-all exit button) 1 x DolphinBar with a Wii Remote in a HOTD:O Hand Cannon (used for mouse emulation for light gun games) The above, as well as a mouse and keyboard (used for 8/16-bit home computers and consoles that had keypad controllers), are hooked up to an external mains powered USB hub. This setup worked quite well from a gameplay perspective (although I had to use the Xbox 360 for the Saturn 3D Control Pad games, as it was the only one with analogue triggers and my Saturn 3D Control Pad didn't work with my USB adapter). As you can probably tell this setup is quite a mess when it's all plugged in and in the time between starting my HyperSpin project I now have 2 kids and own a cat, so I can't leave it out all the time. What I want to do is reduce the number of controllers without sacrificing the gameplay. The main reason I started this topic was to ask does a controller that is basically a Xbox 360/One/PS3/4 style controller exist with 6 face buttons? So this controller would contain the following: 1 D-pad 2 Clickable Analogue Sticks 6 face action buttons on the right 2 digital shoulder button 2 analogue triggers 2 start and select equivalent buttons Four of this type controller would let me replace my PlayStation, Saturn, N64 and Xbox controllers and I could just use my arcade sticks in place of the Speedlink Competitions, so I can still have 6 controllers plugged in for playing X-Men arcade and making it a lot easier to setup my emulation system when I want to play anything. I've looked around but can't find any controller that matches this, as they all seem to be missing something (e.g. 6 face buttons but no analogue triggers). Does such a controller exist or will I just have to find another solution? I'm assuming others in this forum have setup multiple systems through HyperSpin, how do you deal with the controls?
jcrowley30 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Have you looked into the Xbox One Elite Wireless? It has 4 paddles on the underside of the controller than can be programmed as buttons. The $140 - $150 price tag is crazy though.
Johnny80 Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 Another thread with this similar topic found here: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/27369-shinryuken-i-finally-found-the-almost-perfect-controller/#entry247523 Is about the SFV controller. It's worth a look.
32assassin Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 instead of having a usb adapter for each specific controller you use, why don't you just get yourself a Bliss box and use the original controller for each system you want. one USB adapter to connect all the original controllers to your PC. http://skunx7.wixsite.com/bliss-box
Avar Posted August 6, 2016 Posted August 6, 2016 I second the Bliss-Box suggestion. I get the impression from your post that you'll ultimately find anything but the real thing to be lacking.
