Hi

He hasn't contacted back to me as yet but I also noticed the tools folder with Xpadder in was missing. Hopefully he will have a fix for it but i did ask him to remove some systems so maybe some other files are missing?

Does this sound like an easy fix please?

Thanks

Thanks ninja,

Seller has contacted, must have realised what's happened as he's sending out dvd with files. I think database folder was missing as I added it from backups folder and it went straight to the wheel but it must be missing a few other folders as games won't play

  • 2 weeks later...

Hi again guys, well the guy has sent disc out but hasn't sent Database folder with sub menu and xml etc...getting well frustrated now as this has taken probably over a month and I can't start my project. The guy doesn't always answer emails and is getting a bit unreliable...Not sure anybody can help but with the disc there was backup folders and in there is a database folder which I have added to the drive, it did fire up and the wheels were showing but no glossy Hyperspin startup or vids and images...

Is this anything anybody could suggest that might help please...

Thanks again

This is exactly why we don't endorse buying drives like this. You could have already had this all setup, for free.

As a gesture of goodwill I will help you get this up and running. I'll walk you through steps to try yourself and if you run into difficulties I'll remote in and fix it up.

First thing, take a screenshot of the HyperSpin folder and post it here. I need to see the state of the files and go from there.

Hey thanks tonesmalone,

Beginning to think it was a bad idea myself it's just not having the time but any help you can give would be greatly appreciated!

Ok, so I'm gonna be honest here and no offence is meant at all, but it's important others know so that they don't get in a similar position.

Basically that looks like it's been slapped together for a quick buck. It's a complete mess.

What time zone are you in? Cause it's just gonna be easier to remote in and fix it.

Can you believe that site, jeez, £24 for a Saturn set which you can pick up for free and this guy thinks your paying for just materials. What a joke.

I love his Is it Legal section. No clue at all.

Is it illegal ?

No its not illegal to download or use an emulator such as mame or to request a backup copy of a "Rom" as long as you own the original or if the copyright owner has given his permission. The vast majority of the companies that owned the copyrights are no longer in existence and the original formats that they were available in are no longer sold. As long as no one is harmed by the distribution of these old games then no one really minds. Its important to make the point that none of these games are commercially supported. These are archive sets meant mainly to be used for the development of emulators or testing of emulators. You must abide by these rules if you are requesting a set.

This is a hobby and not a business. The funds received are to cover me purchasing the raw materials for you! The contents are provided free of charge and you are welcome to send me your own media for me to burn on your behalf. The choice is yours.

Keep these old mame games alive.

Yeh i paid £30 as i sent him my 2tb drive lucky i got it back i suppose...but the only way you can contact the site is email which In my case he's no longer responding to...hopefully tonesmalone can help me remotely!

I'll get you sorted. Just need to sort out a time. Bare with me and expect it to take a couple of sessions.

This has to be a warning to others. Yeah, it takes time to setup and these drives can seem like a easy way to skip that - but in fact you will end up with more time spent and money lost. We have seen this play out time and time again. Everything here is free, including the support you'll get from the community.

Anyway, rant over. Oppa123 - bare with me, I'll follow up your PM soon.
