Definitive versions of games

Thought it would fun to compile a list of games the general consensus considers the definitive version of a game. I think a few assumptions should be observed:

1. Arcade games are better than home versions- unless an arcade game was ever made off a home game or rare exception, it seems redundant to say arcade versions are the best since we have MAME. For example, I adore Sega MegaDrive versions of Golden Axe and Strider, but would rather play them in MAME any day. We know Pacman on the 2600 is crap. However, it would be fair to say best HOME version of an arcade game.  I don't know if game compilations on modern systems EMULATING arcade versions should count though.

2. Games that are totally different should not be compared - my first memory of this was flipping my Atari 800 disk of "Caverns of Kafka" over to the Commodore side to play at a friend's house and thought "what the hell is THIS game?".

I'd put Resident Evil 4 to the test- The wii version for the controls over any HD graphics.

To get the ball rolling, what is the best HOME version of:

Final Fight

Street Fighter/Mortal Kombat games

Tetris

Pac-man and Ms Pacman

Strider (did a SuperGrafx version ever leak?)

Ninja Gaiden

companies like Nintendo for example always seemed to make their games close enough... i mean super mario arcade and nes version... pretty much the same thing and many would consider the NES version the definitive version but still prefer the arcade version.

The best home version of final fight is on sharp x68000, than the the sega-cd one.

Strider was released only for pc engine cd, as far as I know coders quickly dumped the supergrafx version and adapted the game for pc-engine cd. In the very end supergrafx had only a second set of graphic chips to easily achieve parallax scrolling.

Will have to try the Sharp version! Strider is a favorite and I look forward to hearing the music in the cd version too.  Cool to know I can sort of play the SuperGrafx version that never was by loading up the cd. :)

Some games like the MYST series (Riven, Exile, etc) I had on PC but wonder if any console versions were better?  I wouldn't mind retiring my installers if they were as good/better elsewhere.

Others:

Alias

Blade Runner

Incoming & Incoming Forces

Painkiller

Tomb Raider 3
