floodie Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Hi guys, I have a Mame wheel which when I go into it shows "Arcade Classics". however it has 1000s and 1000s of games. My aim is to have 2 mame wheels.. one titled "All arcade games ever" and the other to be "Arcade classics" containing just a couple of hundred so its more pleasing to guests. If I could somehow duplicate my existing wheel which has everything I can then amend the artwork and xml of one of them to get it to look like what I want perhaps. Or if anyone has another idea then great. I tried making a new Mame wheel yesterday and just got into a mess. thanks David
BATTLEDONKEY Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 You could create a favourites list. Then people can go into mame and favourites easily, or if you still prefer a separate wheel, duplicate that mame/favourites wheel and set it to start in favourites automatically from within the mame.ini settings file
floodie Posted September 15, 2016 Author Posted September 15, 2016 Battledonkey - haha great name. Ok, thanks for that. Funnily enough someone else has already recommended that to me. The problem with that is that every time I went into either wheel it only shows Favourites. It doesn't seem to show All games in one and Favourites in another. Have I made sense there?? maybe not
32assassin Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 many people have duplicate MAME wheels in the form of Manufacture System lists you can add a second MAME wheel but you will have to MANUALLY create an XML with the games you want.
rastan Posted September 15, 2016 Posted September 15, 2016 Goto HyperHQ and setup another system... name that system "Mame 2" or whatever. If you've set up mame before... then you already know how to set up a new system. the emulator is going to be MAME so it's the same setup. all you're doing is naming it something else. RL isn't going to know what your new system is so you're going to have to edit the module for mame or whatever to add your new system to the list of systems that use MAME as the emulator. (you'll probably find better instructions for that if you've never done it before) In RL you're going to set everything up like you did for mame but for your new system "Mame 2" or whatever you named it... point to your mame rom path.. select mame as the emualtor, etc. You're going to have to find a wheel (perhaps the original mame wheel or whatever wheel) and rename it to the name of your system and stick that in the images for the main menu... you'll need to do the same for default system theme and main menu theme and videos if you want. You'll need to copy your mame game wheels to your new system's wheel folder. Since you want to have this system setup just for a few games (mostly classics like PAC MAN and other favorites) you would just add them to the favorites and edit the .ini file for your new system and set it to start on favorites. Maybe someone else can give you more detailed step by step instructions but basically all you're really doing is adding a new mame but not calling it mame... same process for any other system you add to HS.
floodie Posted September 20, 2016 Author Posted September 20, 2016 thanks rastan - managed to get time to work on this last night and its worked a treat.. 2nd mame wheel, turned show favs only in the .ini and great!. just need to get a nice favorites.txt or build it myself which would be fun in itself I guess.
rastan Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 thanks rastan - managed to get time to work on this last night and its worked a treat.. 2nd mame wheel, turned show favs only in the .ini and great!. just need to get a nice favorites.txt or build it myself which would be fun in itself I guess. best way would be to turn start on favorites back to false and manually add the games to your favorites in HS... then turn the start on favorites back to true.
