rastan Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 What emulator is used for this system? only info I have seems to point to RetroArch, but there has to be something else emulating this system???
JoyStickKilla Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 If you look up who tectoy is and what they did it would answer the question
BATTLEDONKEY Posted September 27, 2016 Posted September 27, 2016 If you look up who tectoy is and what they did it would answer the question That doesn't help much, he has the full name in the title of the thread so I assume he knows the what it is already, maybe he's Brazilian or grew up in Europe where the Sega TecToy had a huge market and knows all about it and prefers the TecToy version over Master System. Anyways, I don't have it set up personally but you can try fusion/ kega fusion. It seems to emulate anything Sega related pretty well, not sure if some sort of master system or TecToy bios would be required with it

Because if you click on the first link when you search for them you will see they were simply a company that officially produced and distributed Sega games/hardware in various markets. What does that mean? It means a tectoy Sega genesis is no different than a regular Sega genesis, a tectoy Sega master system is no different than a regular Sega master system, etc. Therefore any emulator that emulates the Sega console emulates the tectoy system.... Because there is no difference.
rastan Posted September 27, 2016 Author Posted September 27, 2016 I knew it was a sega system released in Brazil but didn't know exactly which system and if it required a special emulator but assuming it flows like Famicom/NES.. I guess a genesis/master system emulator would run it fine. I'm thinking I probably won't even keep the system if the games are basically the same. Tested it in fusion.. works.. but seems useless to me.. same games from what I can see. Found it at one of the usual spots and figured I'd try it out.

Because there is no difference. Maybe you should read into the history of TecToy because yes they did release Sega games as you say, but they also localised quite a few games into the Portuguese language that are unavailable elsewhere, and also localised games by changing character sprites among other things. I'm not 100% on this one but I believe they also may have developed a few games themselves not released on the official Sega Master System, so there are differences. There's no need to get all angry, I was just stating that telling someone to search it themselves is kinda counter-intuitive to the whole point of having forums, he asked for some help, telling someone to search for themselves isn't help
JoyStickKilla Posted September 28, 2016 Posted September 28, 2016 Doesn't matter if they developed their own games, they would still play on the actual Sega system lol. Which means the emulator would be that of the Sega system which is what he was asking about. And yes saying to search is indeed helping. As I had no idea what Sega Master system tectoy was so I did a quick Google search and in less than 2 mins found out who they were and that their system was no different than a nontectoy Sega system. I only recommended to him that the answer could be found in the same manner that I did. Plus instead of me saying it's no different than a regular Sega system so just use fusion, RA, etc he would do the search and get some more interesting background on the company and walk away with more knowledgeable.
SkyHighGam3r Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Tec Toy is just a re-branded Sega Master System, anything that plays Master System will play these games.
dougan78 Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 That is a nice thing about sms. You can play all the carts on any regions sms system. They was no region locking.
