thenoob Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Ok I'm close real close I've got Daytona able to boot up, ask me 1-4 player, get to game, but then player 2 controls don't work....although I've got it to gameplay and the screens are split What gives? I've used 2 player all the time in model2, controls are good. In the pic attached I'm confused by the last sentence "the default location is %emupath blah blah... What seems to be the issue. It would be very nice to play 2 player Daytona
thenoob Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 What I think is happening is I possibly never set up the driving controls for player 2. I cannot open the tab for configure controllers, I click and click and click on the menu bar and it will not open, so I can't even check the control layout
thenoob Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 I can only access the configure controllers if I launch a game inside model2, But it only gives me player 1 options?? Any ideas how what I'm doing wrong to link up the multiplayer?
Yeuxkes Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 I also recently set up the multiplayer modes for Model2 and from what I remember is that you can only use keyboard controls for Player1. For all the other players you have got to setup their defaults controls to be from a gamepad or wheel. Seems like you are confused by the Player 1...4 part and how to set it up. In the module notes it says you need to have SEPARATE emulators for each player. That's why you have those options to point to these emupaths. The help text as you elegantly quoted "the default location is %emupath blah blah..." just points to the location where you have the different players emulators. Because the games work in netwerk, there really is no player 2, 3 or 4, they all are player 1 but linked together. Master game is player 1 while the slaves are player 2-4 Hope this helps you out.
thenoob Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 I've got separate emulator folder for player 2, it's right below my original one in my emulator list. Setting up controls is also kind of a pain.... I've got a tankstick. What's also happening is its not synching properly as. Well, and entering the game together...I can't see the other players car....is that the limitation with the multiplayer? That it's basically just two instances of the game and the two cannot truly play together (pass/smash into each other etc) Is there anything in f2, like changing player 1 to master or anything like that or did yours automatically synch?

No you can actually race with up to 8 players if you open up 8 different emulators, but RL limits to 4 max. Make sure link is enabled in Rocket launcher. In the F2 screen you need to set up player 1 as the master and all the others as slave. I also have the cabinet set to deluxe model, and a different car number for each player but don't know if this makes a difference in the end.
thenoob Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 Do you have to do this in every racing game (setting master/slave?). It would be nice it the emulator had that option built into it, or if you made the changes in one game it sets those settings as a default config. Man I wish they would update the emu, it would be awesome. Hopefully I can figure out why it's not syncing properly , hopefully that's the issue
Yeuxkes Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Yup, unfortunately you have to do this for every single game but it goes pretty fast if you have them open side by side. And there aren't that many games only 18 or so.
thenoob Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 Ok gotcha Does it remember these settings tho I'm hoping??
Yeuxkes Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 It does, it saves every setting in the nvdata folder.
thenoob Posted October 15, 2016 Author Posted October 15, 2016 Beauty that worked Now I'm guessing since I have a 360 controller once I get a second one it should be able to separate player 1/2, because now that it's working properly, my single controller controls both. Hopefully windows/model 2 is able to separate them Thanks so much!!!
