Calgarycelticman
Hey all, I have my setup in the garage (aka man cave) which is hooked up to a 52 inch tv mounted on the wall. This display is duplicated off my computer and small monitor. The games look fantastic on the small computer monitor but I am less than impressed with the large display. It looks ok when in windowed mode, however I don’t like the way it looks authentically when in windowed mode. I haven’t been able to get bezels to work but is this the solution to my problem? Can I make the Play screen smaller and have graphics via bezels on the outside? It seems ones Hyperspin/Rocketlauncher launces the emulator (Retroarch or mame) those graphic/resolution properties take over that are defined in the emulator itself. Thanks in advance! gigapig
You can also use shaders in Retroarch. But you say it looks OK on the monitor but not the large screen, are the resolutions the same? If not is the large screen defaulting to the smaller res ?
Calgarycelticman
If you're using hlsl/glsl filters in MAME you need to set those options in the RL MAME module settings as well or they will be overwritten and default to none. You can use bezels so that you have art on the sides of the game instead of black bars. Bezels can either be handled by RL or by using bezels through MAME. Thanks Agent, I will play around some more to see if I can get them to work.

Gigapig, my computer screen is smaller so the grafics don't look so boxy and pixulated. were as when I am playing NES or Atari games on the big tv it just looks silly. my plan was to shrink the viewing size of the play area and fill the sides with the art. this way when I am looking at the big 52 inch tv it will be more like a 32 with the bevels. I know what you mean, mine usually run through my projector. Using a crt (scan line ) shader makes a big difference to the visuals and you shouldn't need to shrink anything. Calgarycelticman
good tip! I will check into that one as well. Thanks! There is so much to learn it's crazy. still don't have my setup anywhere near where I want it to be. My "to do" list doesn't seem to be shrinking graphic/bezel issues tankstick button mapping issues want to get pinball working via hyperspin (haven't even startedd researching this one yet. my problem is I start watching "how to" videos on setting up the above, and next thing I know im watching a video on how to teach a cat to use a toilet. Calgarycelticman
I changed my monitor on my PC and it seems to have effected game play. the sound is all choppy and the games are slow. I am using retroarch. The first time this did this I changed changed the aspect ratio in retroarch setting to 4:4 and it worked great! now I tried playing with that setting again and none seem to make a difference. I did go from a normal monitor to a widescreen ideas? TIA!
