Help with LEDBlinky, a few questions

Recommended Posts

Hi all, first post so be gentle. Spent the last few weeks setting up a HyperSpin build and I have the majority all configured (emus, themes, artwork & videos). Whilst most things I have been able to figure out with a lot of reading through the forums the one thing that I'm struggling with is LEDBlinky. I have the basics working (PACLED64 and UltraLux RGB buttons) but still have a few questions:-

  1. For MAME can I setup a default illumination to light all buttons if no game profile found (looks better than everything off)?
  2. From what I can see none of the NeoGeo games within MAME seem to have colour profiles defined which surprises me, is this correct and if so are custom colour.ini files shared/available anywhere (before I stand adding them all manually)?
  3. Despite following instructions and creating profiles within LEDBlinkyControlsEditor.exe I'm struggling to get LEDBlinky working with other EMUS via HS, any recommended guides/pointers?

Many thanks for any help given,

Cheers

Andy

You have checked on the led blinky site for ready done files? I believe once you purchase it you have access to other stuff. Don't quite me on that though. ;)

Andy,

For question #1 - using the Controls Editor you can create a default profile for mame. From the app select mame from the emulator list and then click the "New" button to create a Rom/Game. Check the "Default" option, select the number of players, then for each player tab add the default controls.

If your buttons aren't lighting as expected you can try using the Troubleshooting app to see if it can identify the problem(s). If that doesn't help, turn on the Debug Log and Verbose options (Misc options tab), run HS and the game(s) that are causing problems, then email me the Debug.ZIP file and I'll take a look. Please provide me with exact details as to what is not working for each game.

By the way, purchasing LEDBlinky removes the splash screen and animation limits, but there are no additional files on the site - just wanted to clarify Polemicist's comment.

:) thanks arzoo. I have my shopping list and Ledblinky is definitely on it for the cab.

Andy just to clarify arzoo knows everything about Ledblinky because it's his. :)

I should start looking into this sometime soon as for the number of wheels in running this will take a great deal of time to fix up. And considering I'm also doing the keyboard config stuff this will become pretty important later. Hmmm.

Thank you guys, question one now solved (wasn't sure if setting a default would override everything in colours.ini/controls.xml).

Cool little app indeed.

This weekend I had some spare time to play with this a little further, now have default lighting setup for MAME games without definiations and control buttons (pause, exit, etc).

Still no progress with questions 2 & 3 above, any suggestions?

Also where can I change the colour values for the Hyperspin FE defaults?

Thanks again.

Okay I've now figured out how to edit the FE defaults, didn't help that half my LEDs had a different colour cast to some others which made things a little confusing.

Regarding lighting for other emulators does the emulator name within the LEDBlinky controllers editor have to match the Hyperspin wheel name or the name of the actual emulator being used?

I.e. for my Genesis wheel should I be specifying 'Sega Genesis' or 'Fusion'?

Thanks.
