I am having the hardest time getting my hyperspin drive to work.....

when I launch a game itr pulls up the loading game image but then just sits there.

Would someone that is smarter than me(probably all of you) PLease help me figure out what I did wrong.

Better yet if some one would like to pc connect and set it up for me.

I did purchase a preconfigured drive from the people above..... they even listed this site as the place for setup help.

This made me feel like it was a authentic and directly from hyperspin.

Well you were ripped off!

Hyperspin as in this website doesn't sell drives..

They list this site for help but this site is not affiliated with them.. the people that run hyperspin never sell drives and the people in the community are here on the forums to help and keep the community alive but none of us are paid to be customer service for these companies that are ripping people off!

Sorry to say this but you were ripped off and it's your own fault. If we can help you we will but to be honest you're going to have to give us more information on your problem and considering that you have no idea what you have going on.. I doubt we can help you if you don't even know what you have on that drive or how it's set up.

Nobody can reverse engineer the madness on that drive and we don't even know if the emulators are configured or if you even have full sets to go with the emulators. My advice is seriously find a tutorial on setting hyperspin up and take it from there.. go into the emulators and get them running outside of hyperspin first. do you even know if you're using rocket launcher or is it a out dated build using HL?

Also please don't think we are being mean to you.. as a lot of people come here and assume this site is related to the people that sell them drives.

You should never ever buy a pre-configured drive and for a number of reasons.

Your best bet is to check the drive and see what you actually have.. if you have roms and all the artwork that actually matches the rom sets... the way to go is starting over fresh and installing a fresh copy of hyerspin which can be downloaded for FREE on this very website.

It's sad that these people fall victim to scams and even more sad that the drives probably are exactly what they paid for but they don't have the knowledge required to get them up and running on their own systems.

It is sad but hopefully he can get his money back from his credit card company or paypal.

People can't fix it if they don't know whats wrong with it.. it could be something as simple as the wrong drive letter or needing to match the roms to the databases or it could be a complete mess and waste of time to even try fixing. I will say this.. the people that sell these drives either configure everything and make them plug and play other than you having to setup the controls for emulators... or they just sell you a half ass drive with all the parts but it's like buying stuff wrong Ikea and not having the skills or tools to put it together.

I think all the roms are there. It is just not finding them which tells me the rom paths are wrong. Would it be possible to share the debug script and maybe you would be able to ID the issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry again for the rule violation... it wont happen again.

also if I understand it I could reload hyperspin and start fresh if I have all the roms on the drive....It is a 2tb drive and it is full.

Shoot me a PM with your TeamViewer login info. No promises, but I can take a look

Download a copy of hyperspin and set it up on your own... this would also require you set each system and configure the emulators up.. but having all the roms and I assume art work can actually make this process move faster. the hardest part of setting up hyperspin for me was getting all the artwork, video snaps.

They are not in New York either so don't go looking, it's some wanker in Spain.

I live in New York and as soon as I saw that address a red flag came up..  and even searching on google confirmed it.

People shouldn't buy things online without researching the company especially considering things of this nature are ILLEGAL in general so people selling illegal stuff can't be expected to be trustworthy.. the phrase buyer beware is always in effect when purchasing illegal stuff from people so people pretty much get what they get.. it may sound mean but it's their own fault like buying illegal stuff off the street and you get home and it doesn't work... pretty much the  buyer's fault.

You sure didn't help by saying "you were ripped off and it's your own fault".

purchasing illegal stuff like roms falls into buyer beware. personally I wouldn't buy a TV or Laptop off the streets from a shady person but if I did and got home and it didn't work... I have nobody to blame but myself.

I get that I made a mistake.....Thank you for reminding me... However I wasn't coming here to be admonished I was coming here for some help. It sounds like I came to the right place because I have already had several good ideas. I would love to continue the discussion about my stupidity in another forum perhaps but for this one I just prefer progress and helpfulness.

I seem to have all the roms artwork and such so the setup process hopefully will go smooth from there.

I hope I didn't offend anyone with my comments.

No you didn't. The best thing is to start from scratch, so reinstall HS and emulators. You need to learn how to do this to be able to fix and update it anyway. The roms and artwork can be re-used.

Maybe it might be fixable, but you're better of knowing how things work. Emulation without having to set up anything generally doesn't work. There are FE's that make thing a bit easier for you, like LaunchBox.

Well, this is the official forum! ;)

Too bad you didn't google HS before hand and registered here to have a look around, but you're here now! Plenty of ppl around helping others out, no matter how they got here.

The tad aggressive responses have to do with those drive sellers, they drive us mad. Especially because we do the work for free and they rip us off, sending ppl here for us to fix their crap. But you've been very understanding, some ppl just repeat "fix my drive!" etc. But hey, welcome!

honestly that wasn't being mean that was what they would call tough love... letting someone know it was their own fault for buying illegal stuff and getting ripped off is what people need to hear... so in the future they'll never be a sucker and get ripped off again.

you need to go into RL or HL (whichever one) and see what the paths are pointing to. just guessing here but if someone had paths set up as drive E: and on your system the drive is setup as drive F: (for whatever reason) that could be the problem... it could also be that the roms are there but the rom files don't match the database... it could be anything.  I will say this.. i assume you have mame? so start with that...it's the easiest thing to get going...

Bit different considering it's a semi-legit looking website to those that aren't familiar with this site (they even use the same background image). Regardless, rubbing in the fact they got conned and blaming them for it isn't constructive at all.

I'll give you that a website could look legit.... but we all know ROMS are illegal regardless of how legit a website looks... we're still talking about a site that sells roms and other than those companies that make cabs and have a licensing deal.. any company or site that sells roms is definitely 100% illgeal (not that we don't know how illegal all of this stuff is to begin with) and those companies that do have a license for the games never have 1000s of games... they have the greatest hits and that's about it.. 30 to maybe 50 games. the fact of the matter is regardless if the buyer didn't know the website they purchased from was legit doesn't excuse the fact that they knew it was illegal to purchase roms... and anyone buying a hyperspin drive has done enough research to know what emulation is.

listen I agree on face value.. i took a shot at the guy buy saying it was his own fault for getting ripped off but I wasn't lying and it was a bit of tough love so hopefully he learns his lesson and doesn't become a sucker again.

End of the day we're all here because we love and support the hyperspin community.
