JoyToKey issues with RetroArch?

So I was using JoyToKey (first time) so that I could use my XBox 360 controller to play Nintendo World Championship (NES) for the HyperScore competition and I noticed something odd happening. After about 5 minutes RetroArch will exit, without error. Has anyone else experienced this? It seems so odd. RL logs only show return to RL, but no exit key press. And I'm only mapping two buttons so I'm for sure not pressing the exit key (I don't use emergency exit combos either).

So I tested my hypothesis by removing my controller and exiting JoyToKey, then just letting the game sit there. Sure enough, it completes as normal. So it seems like the issue is either RA or JoyToKey.

FYI - the JTK version is the free trial version

Just curious.

I'm unsure why you would use J2K with RetroArch when using a 360 controller. Normally you just start the game and the controller and it works without a keymapper. If the keymapper is conflicting then I set a blank profile.

It just wouldn't work past the point of loading the game. It's weird, really, and I verified it with a fresh install of RA as well. The 360 controller works in menus, but not in game.

I'm going to keep working on it, so we'll see. Maybe it's just something unique to my setup.

On my PC i never changed the default controls and would just switch the 360 or Xbone controller on and it would work.

On my cab it's different I had to remap the Ultrastiks, so you may have to adjust the config files including the default cfg. You coukd try removing them to a back up folder, check the one in the root aswell.

Ok so I got things working again with a completely fresh RA build. So no more monkeying around with JTK. I had the crash issue happen again once when using RL to launch, but it's not consistent... so maybe that's the issue. Works just fine when started outside of RA. Seems specific to the controller, so I'm not going to worry about it.
