Really appreciate all you guys being willing to help the NEW GUY lol! not sure if you mean your sound is a problem or the quality of mame's audio isn't that great? I've heard in the past that mame can actually use samples for higher quality audio but to be honest I've always been pretty satisfied with the quality of the audio I get from mame.
Metalzoic Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 For some reason you seem to have more issues than most getting setup. Ha! No idea. MAME sounds fine to me although there are some games that do have spotty or missing sound, so maybe those are the ones you tried? There's a download called MAME Extras and within that download is a Samples folder. These files will fix the sound on a grip of games (Zaxxon for example). It's the only thing in the MAME Extras download that I think is essential for everyone to have. The files simply go into the Samples folder within your MAME folder. What MAME are you using anyway? Using the wrong version of MAME with the wrong version of roms etc... could also cause issues I suppose. You never want to mix versions.
Dakin23 Posted January 15, 2017 Author Posted January 15, 2017 i'm running MAME .175 but my games are .181. Not sure exactly how to update it. Spoken like a true novice lol
BATTLEDONKEY Posted January 15, 2017 Posted January 15, 2017 Just download mame 181, you should always use the correct version of mame that matches the romset

Dakin23 Posted January 16, 2017 Author Posted January 16, 2017 Where do you get the MAME 181? It only show updates not the emulator on mamedev.com
