The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

JoyToKey & HyperSpin - Controlls for games now acting like HS controls

I just set up JoyToKey following the great tutorial on this site and all is well as far as controlling HS with my xbox 360 gamepad, but now, when I enter a game and press button b, for example, it's as if I'm pressing enter on the keyboard instead of button b.  I did set button b to be enter for HyperSpin, but the problem is it has taken over the in game controls, too, so now I can't play any games.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions,

Ok, I figured out this problem but now I have another problem...

Everything works fine now until I exit a game.

Once I exit a game, only the keyboard responds.  The gamepad no longer responds at all.

The only thing I can do is exit HS (via KB) and open it back up again.  Then everything works fine including selecting a game, playing it, and exiting it...Then it starts all over.

If I can get this figured out, with your help, I will finally have my system about 99% working!! :)

Thanks,

I have this issue too - escape joystick button in HS also jumps me out of in MAME. When I quit a game, the joystick no longer runs the HS wheels at all. How did you fix the first post issue?

You should avoid setting the joystick, spinner and trackball controls in HyperHQ. Instead rely on JoytoKey or Xpadder for controlling Hyperspin. You can achieve this by setting up a controller profile in Rocketlauncher for your frontend. For starting the profile when you launch HS you can rely on the Hyperspin startup script.

The fix was making sure a separate profile was created and set up for HyperSpin and RocketLauncher, plus a default profile.

As long as you have those three profiles set up you should be good to go.

I've not had any further problems.  When I start HS, the HS profile in JoyToKey is automatically loaded.  When I launch a game, the RL profile is automatically loaded and it is different in that it uses different button combinations I would never use in game/while playing a game, so it doesn't interfere with being able to enter/exit/control a game and actually play the game.

Hope this helps,

I also started using the HyperSpin startup script for all the cool features it offers but have the Joystick feature in the script turned off and still use JoyToKey.
