Hyperspin causing Demul to crash

I'm having a bit of an issue with Hyperspin and Demul.  Sorry, I'm not sure if this is a hyperspin or a rocketlauncher issue but I think hyperspin.

I have atomiswave and naomi running on Demul. It runs on its own fine, I also have everything setup through rocketlauncher.  When I launch a game through rocketlauncherUI, they all launch and play fine.  But when I try to play through hyperspin, it launched Demul (the demul loading screen pops up) but then it crashes and windows comes up with "Demul has encountered an unexpected error, checking for a solution"

Any ideas what might be causing this?

Thanks!!!!

I don't have demul so i can't replicate this. It sounds like a module problem, if your launching them through the rocket logo it shouldn't be :/ try running rocketlauncherUI as administrator as hyperspin would do this and it could be whats causing the problem.

Yeah but it would run rocketlauncher.exe with admin rights if hyperspin is .  For Eg steam hates it when you launch it with admin rights and some old apps aswell.    Your right though his setting.ini is probably the cause.

Thank you for the responses.  I've attached two logs to look at.

One was loading in MarvelVsCapcom2, this game never started.  The demul loading screen came up and then a only a black screen and demul crashed.

The interesting one is the mslug6 load.  When i tried this, it started loading the game.  The "Sammy" logo comes up, so it seems like it's actually going to work..and then it crashes.  I've tried this a few times, always with the same result.

I double checked to make sure, but the games still load from Rocketlauncher UI just fine.

Thanks again for the help!

I'm using .582.  I've tried .57 and didn't have any luck with that either.  I can't use .7 because I have a Radeon HD4850 which only does DX10 or else I would try that version.

:( id check your emulators under fighters in rocket launcher, the fault is there somewhere.  Btw is this a multi wheel? different games using different systems?

also open rocketlauncher.exe and under system name TYPE "Fighter" and under rom name TYPE "mvsc2" see if it works if not post rocketlauncher.log

It is a multiwheel.  It's all mame run games except for mvsc2.  I will try using rocketlauncher and see if that works.

Also, I tried it with the standalone naomi wheel.  Again, all the games work in rocketlauncher, but none work in hyperspin.  They all cause demul to crash.

it sounds funny to me :? you dont have multiple installs of demul or hyperspin do you? and did you check your games.ini in C:\Rocketlauncher\Settings\naomi  check if  anything in there, there shouldn't be.(only naomi)

did you create the demul emulator and picked correct module in rocketlauncherUI yourself?

Demul crashes while playing both mslug6 and Dolphin Blue randomly on or around level. This has always happened and to my knowledge never fixed. What I've not tried is running Demul on its own to see if Hyperspin or Rocketlauncher is the problem.

Thanks for all the help. I'm going to mess around with it this morning and see if I have any luck.  I don't have multiple copies of either, I'm going to mess around with some rocketlauncher settings and see if I can figure where I went wrong, maybe I'll just delete DEmul and start fresh.

Gigapig, do you have a better emulator recommendation?  Honestly, the only 2 games I care about are metal slug 6 and most importantly Marvel Vs Capcom 2 (we've had some crazy battles with that game).

Marvel vs Capcom 2 is a Dreamcast game so try the NullDC emulator for that.

Metal slug 6 has been put out on PC, PS2 and in the Anthology

We also played Dolphin Blue today and made it through to the end. Oh my does that game go on and on and we died a lot. I'm sure you would fill the coin box to play it till the end.

So, it turns out it's probably a rocketlauncher issue.  Now it crashes everytime from rocketlauncher.  I must have just gotten lucky before, I haven't changed anything, no clue what the issue could be.  I posted in the rocketlauncher forums hoping someone can point me in the right direction there.

I tried to use NullDC, and older version of DEmul, and Makaron to run Marvel vs Capcom and just wasn't impressed.  It studdered and just wasn't nearly as smooth as DEmul.  I suppose if I can't find a solution I can run with one of those, but I really like how it plays on the newer DEmul.  Smooth and just a good playing experience.

Gigapig, I'm assuming you used DEmul to play through dolphin blue.  It is a fun game, never made it to the end yet, sounds like I know why now!!

Here..... i used pclauncher module to launch it unfortunately you'll have to set up each game and create a bat file. Your hyperspin rom list will have to point to these bat files so use exactly the same name as your rom

ill upload my bat files as an example and post settings

Btw now that iv set up demul i see it requires specific system input. Make sure your games are under the right system name. This is whats probably causing the crash in the first place

Sega Dreamcast games under "Sega Dreamcast" sega naomi under sega "Sega Naomi" in hyperspin                   if they are under the wrong name demul will crash
