Control VLC with Joystick / Gamepad

Hi. I use the VLC Media Player to play music or videos via hyperspin. Everything works great but I have to use the mouse / keyboard to control VLC.

Can't configure joystick or gamepad buttons via hotkeys as vlc seems to accept keyboard buttons only.

has anyone figured out how to control VLC Media Player with the Arcade Stick / Joystick / Gamepad?

If vlc only accepts keyboard shortcuts I would imagine you need something like either xpadder or joytokey to convert the button presses to keyboard keys that vlc will understand
