You should be fine replacing the files by the new ones, except if your current Retroarch is really old, there may have been some changes. Make a backup of your current Retroarch folder and replace by a newer version and let us know if it's OK. Aorin

Does it show the version in bottom left once you have closed the core or loaded up without a game/core? if its version 1.1 you will probably need start a bit fresh.
