The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Does anyone have a script to startup hyperspin before the windows shell starts?? currently in using reg hacks to change the shell to hyperspin

Unfortunately under win10 userinit has to start explorer so i cant simply set it to an exit program.

here are my custom reg files

DO NOT USE THESE

Hyperspinshell.reg

ExplorerShell.Reg

I can write a simple exit bat to apply these reg files and start userinit but i was hoping someone had a better solution.

Got it working after changing group policies and adding a shorcut to hyperspin in the registry etc etc

currently using batch scripts

I just use Tur-Volume Controller to time-out the launch of Hyperspina and apps.

I didn't shell Win 10 since it didn't seem to need it as much as 7.

For people that want a starting point here are all my files Don't run them if you don't know what your doing.

I created a link to hyperspin in registry localmachine---software---microsoft---windows---app paths

You'll have to study each file and edit them for your setup

Hyperspin and rl can't be launched as admin unless you use the runas batch function with  /saveCred parameter or if you become a true admin.

ExplorerShell.Reg

h.bat

hyperspin.bat

Hyperspinshell.reg

the idea is to launch it before i see the task bar. does Tur-volume controller do this??

Nope, so My taskbar still shows for a few seconds during boot before it hides itself.

seems vjoy has issues if you change the shell :/

anyway i updated the Batch to use NirCMD to hide everything and created a few loops if someone want to run something after hyperspin even though task scheduler can do it..

Again everything is setup for my system only, running these without editing them will break your shell

Made an unfavorable workaround for the vjoy problem using per game user function that starts explorer shell for games that require vjoy and X360ce...

also made a link in registry to vjoy

Not exactly sure if this is what you're looking for but here is what I did with my dedicated laptop which runs Hyperspin.

[Booting]

I have it setup so that it boots without any of the windows branding showing.. when I boot it shows a image of a retro NES controller with the words classic and I added text on the screen (where it normally would say microsoft or windows loading) it simply says Loading..... under the retro nes controller and on the bottom of that.. in smaller fonts it says Retro Gaming System.

[Logging in]

I also used the same Retro NES controller image for my windows login background.. and the cool thing with this is when I boot my laptop... my external display (TV) doesn't show anything until windows login screen so after booting... my TV will display the same image but in full screen unlike the smaller image that shows up on the booting screen.

[Windows]

I have a wall paper image of Mario set as the background image/wallpaper.. I have my task bar set to hide... and I also unchecked desktop icons so nothing shows (no recycle bin or folders).. I also put a short cut to hyperspin in my startup folder.

[Programs used]

There is something called "Windows 7 Logon Background Changer" (obviously worth noting at this point that I am using windows 7) this program is used to change the windows login background screen.

I also used a program called "Windows 7 Boot Updater"... this is used to change the windows booting screen (you can also edit any text that is on the booting screen)

Finally there is a program called "Resource Hacker" this is used to edit the C:\Windows\Branding\Basebrd\basebrd.dll .....you open the basebrd.dll within Resource Hacker and you delete the bitmap folder... (also worth noting you should back up the .dll before you mess with it) this will remove all the windows 7 branding that you see when you're logging into windows or when you're shutting down.

Was a simple process and I love the results.. even if technically I'm not bypassing the windows desktop but being that the task bar is set to hide and desktop icons aren't enabled and I have a custom background image... it just seems like a natural booting process straight into hyerspin.

One small thing that I'd like to change is removing the windows loading thing... you know like how it used to have the hour glass when loading... whatever that little thing windows does when it's loading.. if I could get rid of that as well as hide the mouse cursor.. it would be at 100% but those things are minor so i'd say I'm 99% happy with the results and to be honest I only notice it because I know it's really windows under the hood...anyone clueless to the fact would be more focused on the retro gaming images during the booting process and by the time hyperspin actually  launches.. they won't even care.

Similar  to metalzoics method, anyway.. just change your mouse cursors to blank 'invisible' ones

That's basically how I had it all setup when I used Win 7, but all those Win 7 changer apps didn't work in 10.

For the Windows loading animation you can change it, I used to have mine changed to a pac-man animation in Win 7. Can't remember the app I used to do it though.

For my mouse (in both Win 7 and win 10) instead of making it invisible I changed it to a chomping Pac-Man and all it's alternate versions (hourglass, hand, no etc...) are the different ghosts.

found some .ani's online... I'm using a Mario as my mouse pointer and I have a Pacman setup for the background/busy. it was easy to setup but one minor pain in the butt was I didn't realize that when you browse for the .ani's that you actually have to move them to your windows/cursors folder or else windows won't save it and will go back to the default pointer, etc.

Now the only thing left is to edit the Welcome/Shutting Down text that is displayed when windows is either loggin on or shutting down... I can do this by editing two .dll's and and compiling in Resouce Hacker.

Yeah, that's always the smartest thing to do.. make a backup and or restore points in case somethng screws up. I kinda held off on actually messing with it because it's such a minor issue with the "shutting down" and "welcome" text and with this particular .dll I believe I have to use the CMD and run something in the system32 folder after compiling and saving... not that it was hard but was a few more steps than I wanted to do at the moment and since my system is working 99% perfectly lol.. I figured I'd just wait until I really got the urge to mess with it.

The process is pretty simple so I'll probably end up doing it anyways lol
