The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Since we start from scratch and want to make it simple ( for starters )

we were thinking to just have the sytem name's

for example when Nintendo 64 is selected from the wheel

the text in the wheel says Nintendo 64 but the background then

has a picture of the Nintendo 64

( we have tried in the wheel a picture of the console but that did not exactly looked good

the picture was too big, we could make the picture smaller but we just leave that for now )

when we select a different console from the wheel

like the Sega Dreamcast the background changes from the Nintendo 64 background

to the background of the Sega Dreamcast

we are still figuring out how to make themes with no luck

but this wil have to do for now

SO HOW DO WE DO THIS That is our question

Thanks in advanced...

In your HyperSpin folder is HyperTheme.exe. That is the theme-making app you use.

Play around with that, maybe open some existing themes, to see how it works. Took me a few hours of tinkering to get it all figured out. Most of us make our layers in Photoshop (or something similar) and then import those layers into HyperTheme to create, time, animate and produce the finished theme.

HyperTheme only makes themes in 4:3 by default, so if you want to make themes for 16:9 you will need to create your art at 16:9 in Photoshop and then squeeze that ratio down to 4:3 before you put it into HyperTheme so that when it actually displays in HyperSpin it strecthes out to the correct aspect ratio.

Use the search bar and search for Hypertheme, theme creating, widescreen theme etc... You should find a lot of topics.

Thanks Metalzoic

we played around a little bit with Hyperspin

and found out how to display only the Roms that we have on our HDD

so thank goodnes, no need to tinker with a xml file

open hyperHQ - wheel settings - choose a wheel - nintendo entertainment system - wheel filters - roms only = checked not unchecked

and for images or is that called attract mode

Hyperspin - media - main menu - images - wheel

picture must be a PNG so no JPEG and must have the same name that was written when using Main Menu Wizard

Hyperspin - media - main menu - themes

still working on that one

Sounds about right

attract mode makes the wheel spin when left alone for the time set, landing on random games. Thus "attracting" onlookers to play.

if you turn all filters off (unchecked) then it will display every game that is in the database xml for the system.regardless of images.

wheel = image in wheel folder or gamename xml (image must match game xml entry)

We are thinking about making a Mini Guide ( incomplete )

removing everything and starting over with Hyperspin & Rlauncher

having our few note's with us and opening up notepad

step by step writing down what we have done

wondering if others have made a mini guide, but whatever

to make it as simple as possible but stil easy to read

at least the basics or something like that

so stay tuned and until next time

Generating database from rompath is probably not the preferred method. You should note the limitations of doing that.

Also the hyperlaunch path may be a different drive letter for others unless you are supply a machine to people

Thanks thatman84 for the info

but wat kind of limitations do you mean for Generating a database from rompath

although we are new at this, this seems to work just fine

and something about matching rom name's or ROM/Database/Renaming tools

seems to be a little bit complex for us and making the procces even longer

so we are curious about the limitations you speak of.

And for the drive letter,

perhaps that we should add a little text that their drive letter might be different from ours

but yeah this does need some work and many little tweaks overall

With the db created from rompath you lose all the metadata for description, manufacturer etc

I think it stops the letter search function working and bigger than that you have to rename all the artwork for wheels, box, cart eye

Not a big deal if you Rom collection is small.

What you looks good though.

Quick question. You say "we" & "us" slot. Is that Google translate or something else?

Thanks we did not know that, so for a big user this might not be efficient

at least if you want to use all that data.

But the letter search function still works fine, so no worry's there

A little bit of both
