Converting files to CHD

I need to convert some bin/cue and iso format games to CHD format so I can use them with the MESS emulator (via retroarch, if it matters)

this is for various systems, but at the moment I'm looking at Neo Geo CD games and Amiga CD32.

There should be no need to convert?

I was under the impression that MESS would only use CHD formatted CD games.

Well I'd advise using MAME, since MAME and mess are now merged. That said, MAME does indeed load some disc image files. Check the docs.

I use SNK Neo Geo CD bin/cue images with MAME (MESS) without any problem. For Amiga CD32 i use FS-UAE

@SkyHighGam3r If i'm not wrong, there's a set of SNK Neo Geo CD CHDs ready in MAME CHD Software Lists.

For some strange reason i can't run bin/cue SNK Neo Geo CD on Retroarch. It hangs without reason when start. This is why i use MAME.

I have had a headache of a time getting both FS-UAE and Win-UAE booting both Amiga and CD32 games... :( Any tutorials you are aware of that are good? lol

I grabbed a package of CHD Neo Geo CD games from the interwebz and it was missing a LOT, and a bunch of them are JP versions (and those aren't even working which is another issue I gotta get around to fixing...)

For FS-UAE i juste follow the module rules. You also need Amiga CD32 Extended-ROM and Kickstart ROM. I can help you with that if needed ;)

I just tried a bin/cue version of KOF '94 and it totally worked... how I got this turned around is amazing to me lol

The Philips CD-i on the other hand, I just tried some bin/cue and all I got was a teal-blue screen...

For Philips CD-i i use MAME too. You also need a bios (If you have complete mame set, just point RL to that folder too and it will get the right bios)

I've got "cdimono1.zip" with the files cdi200.rom & cdi220b.rom
It's sitting in my game folder.

is this the correct bios and/or location?

I have MAME set 0.173 or something, I need to get it up to date (arcade was way low on my list of stuff to setup)
Though the "MAME CHD" set was listed separately 'cause it's 350GB, so I'm not sure what I am missing as far as the MAME set goes.

As i can see, when exec a philips cd-i game throug RL using MAME emulator it looks for cdimono1 bios. Just be sure to point to it in ROMs path too.

Well first of all, it never occured to me until now to double-click a log entry in RL... I feel like I've missed a massive bounty of information this whole time lol.

Here's what mine is giving me:

Process.Run - Running: W:\Emulators\RetroArch\retroarch.exe  "cdimono1 -rompath \"W:\Games\Philips CD-i\" -cdrom \"W:\Games\Philips CD-i\Hotel Mario.cue\""  -f -c "W:\Emulators\RetroArch\retroarch.cfg" -L "W:\Emulators\RetroArch\cores\mame_libretro.dll

so, it seems like it should be working right... but I just get that blue screen.

I can't help you with Retroarch, because i use MAME for CD-i.  Just try MAME for a while and point to the path which has cdimono1.zip bios
