MA18EN Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 We've got a Raspberry Pi 3 and we have the following idea to use Hyperspin and Rocketlauncher as a Mediacenter ( for mother ) she is not technical, so we must make it as simple as possible we tried to experiment with Kodi on our PC, but is not very user friendly and looking through the files and folders with no luck ( because where do the scraped image's go, we do not know ) so to explain our idea HyperSpin boots up Automatically she will see the wheel with different Categories for example The Movie Theater after selecting and entering, she will see the movie's name in the wheel, then the DVD Cover as the background and a trailer is also being played ( or without, whatever ) Yes Hyperspin is versatile after experimenting with it and watching a dozen of video's but now only one question remains is this possible on the Raspberry Pi 3 or should we just go for a Barebone but that would increase the costs so do you guys have any idea's or knowledge that might help us Thanks for the help
Guest Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Not gonna work as HyperSpin and RocketLauncher are windows only.RetroPie is fantastic though...https://retropie.org.ukThat's for game emulation though, which isn't going to help as a media centre. For that, maybe try OpenElec. It's kodi based but with a better UI. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
32assassin Posted April 15, 2017 Posted April 15, 2017 Hyperspin will not work on the Pi but their is an alternative called Attract Mode, this frontend runs with retropie. their are probably 100s of pre made retropie/Attract Mode images available for download, you just need to look for them. I been building one from scratch, with Hyperspin themes

There were some other video's showing that VLC Media Player was being used, but we have not tried this ourselves

32assassin Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 as I mentioned their are now literally 100s of pre made images you can download now, they are pre-loaded with roms, Hyyperspin artwork and emumovies videos. go to youtube, do a search for retropie, and you will find the most popular ones. the only problem with them is that they come with systems/games you don't want, they might be missing systems/games you want, and they all seem to have the same generic look. alternately you can go to the official Retropie page https://retropie.org.uk/ and download the base image. This image comes with all the emulators pre installed, but it does not contain any roms, Hyprspin artwork or emumovies videos. by default it will boot to emulaton station, a very generic looking front-end. if you like to have a "Hyerspin" look to it. You will need to install Attract Mode I got the basic default retropie image, and built it from the ground up. by that I mean that, - I made multiple attract mode themes. - I made my own rom lists - I configured everything to what I want. -I modified and fixed multiple Hyperspin themes that crashed Attract Mode.

How exactly from default retropie img to the Hyperspin Wheel what are the exact steps for doing so, or can they be found online and building from the ground up is a great idea by using the official retropie img
