You're welcome! If you're new it's probably worth starting from the beginning of that playlist just to ensure nothing's missed.

Avar again Thank you. those videos helped. I do have another question or two? I'm trying to set up hyperspin for my Nvidia Shield so I take it I don't need Rocket Launcher? and it says to use HyperHQ to set up new consoles but when I try to launch hyperhq my computer says "HyperHQ must be in the same directory as Hyperspin" any ideas?

I personally have zero experience setting it up on anything other than Windows right now so I'm not much help for the Nvidia Shield. I'm sorry. I'll try to make time to do it once so I can learn eventually.

All good. another question when I extract my roms using 7z it puts the roms in another file. set up is like for example "Nintendo Entertainment System>roms>1942(Japan, USA)> then the .nes file. does it need to be just roms>.nes file?

@JHNSNT02

I have some guides in the android section just search "(Tutorial) settings android"

My advice to you as you have a PC for setup is to follow Avars guides the rocketlauncher stuff is useful as a management tool but not really needed.

Check out the Android Base Pack in the download section. It has a bunch of useful assets (settings files, emu setup text file ect)

The folder structure and basic files all work the same on PC+android so you can match up all your databases to roms and media before tansfering to the shield.

The only difference will be the top section of the settings files.

Rompath (specific to you)

Exe and parameters you get from the base pack.

To add a system you just need to create the folders and files as you see the other systems.

The add your system into the MainMenu.xml database

FYI PS2 is not emulated to a playable standard on android

For android all your roms need to be unzipped in one folder per system

Nes/roms/games.nes

Snes/roms/games.sfc

Your roms can be anywhere but if you contain them inside your hyperspin folder it makes the rompath easier to sort.

I prefer to keep mine out of there but it's UP to you

Question for you. I tired to see if i could get Hyperspin to launch on the shield after i set up a few systems and some roms. When i click the hyper spin app nothing happens. Its just a black screen and in the top of the screen theres a gray bar that says hyperspin? Any ideas?

Try a reboot on the shield and give it a few mins before launching.
you shouldn't need to do that but sometimes first runs are a little slow leave it for a min or 2.
where is your Hyperspin folder?

I believe it's in the root of my external hard drive. Does my external need to be a certain name? Hyperspin says it can't find the file? No sure what I'm doing wrong there

Some HD are reconized like an usb key by the shield, in that case hyperspin can't find the folder.

The hyperspin folder is on the root of the hard drive but the shield thinks it's inside a folder.

When your HD is connect to the shield, open esexplorer and look if the hyperspin folder is really on the root of your HD.

Beware of giving ES File Explorer 'access' to your USB drive.   It takes 'exclusive' control and then other apps cannot access without reboot (or revoking permission).   In file explorer apps, find your drive through the /storage path.

External SDcards and Harddrives work fine with Android Hyperspin.   My rom path is /storage/<UUID>/Hyperspin/Emulators/Atari 2600/.

I've been using a NAS drive for easy testing recently because the folder path is still /storage/<name>/Hyperspin/ and the HS app finds the folder.

WRITING to external storage can be annoying on Android if you haven't rooted.   'Adopting' an SDcard/USB external drive makes it primary /sdcard storage but then the drive is encrypted, cannot be removed, cannot be used on Windows any longer.
