I'm having a weird issue... qsound capcom games won't load with this build of Arcade 64, but they will with vanilla MAME 0.185. Could someone validate? Try running ecofghtr or punisher.

Same thing for me works in plain MAME but not in this build of Arcade64, but the www.insertmorecoins.es no nag Arcade64 build works ok

Tested those and working. Did you try updating qsound?

I've a fresh set, so yes. The error I get is that it's looking for a non-existent file. I'm not at home right now and so I can't find the actual name, but some deep googling last night led me to a MAME dev page where they were talking about renaming qsound.bin to that new file. The problem is that that didn't happen, and vanilla MAME doesn't look for it. Also, when I ran punisher there were other, non-qsound errors/missing files.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I'm running the non-merged set. So each ROM zip contains all the files.

Thanks for confirming

I'm wondering if the arcade64 source used for the compile wasn't the final version. One that would have retained that new file name in qsound, when the official build didn't.

Not home at moment but did quick test before work on the ones you mentioned and they work just fine on my part.

Will look at it further see what happens tonight if I find any issues

Ok now this is strange... Rampage won't play in vanilla MAME 0.185 (missing ROM errors), but will in Arcade64. How is that possible? Weird.

Edit: I'm an idiot. It's because I have a rampage specific INI and the rom folder was pointing to an old, unused folder of mine. Looks like MAME and Arcade64 may load the ini files in a different order, for some reason, and that's ok.

have you tried in a fresh install?

normally, it best to install the current mame "vanilla" first then copy over the aecade64 on top of it.

using pre-existing setup may cause issues due the updated changes.

sound like a lot of work, it is the only way to have 100% working with what current.

Hi everybody,

I've used old Mame versions with my Bartop and Maxiumus Arcade.
Maximus is out of date, but i love it.
Since Mame 1.55? the gamelist.xml had some changes and it wont' work out of the box with MA or Mala Frontends.
In the xml 'machine' is used instead of 'game', and the generated xml is too big to open an rename it for my hardware.

So I searched for an arcade only version ... and I found Arcade 64. ;-)
Is it possible to get a special version of this nonag Version who generates a gamelist.xml with the old 'game' instead of 'machine'?

I don't fully understand the problem and it's been a very long time since I used Maximus but would the "GameList Converter" help? There is discussion here.

I did create a gamelist but it does not look correct and is basically just a list.

I did find a list for mame 0.170 170.rar no idea if it correct or not.

Also use Notepad++ instead of Notepad. https://notepad-plus-plus.org

MA shows Mame Games generating a gamelist.xml using commadline mame.exe -listxml.
But since Mame 1.55 this xml is no longer '
compatible' with MA (shows an error).
I know, that i can rename 'machine' back to 'game' inside the xml, but it would be nice to do this not every time I add new Games.

So it would be perfect to get a version of Arcade 64 who generates an xml with the old 'game' instead of the newer 'machine'.

OK so you know how to change the list but you want a version of Arcarde64 which does it automatically. Over to someone else who knows about compiling.

Exactly.
But I don't know how to compile it myself.
I think it's usefull for all old MA (and some MALA) Users.

Hope someone can help.

Oh ... I hoped it would be easy to replace 'game' instead of 'machine' in the sourcecode.
