okay... I'm gonna say something.. .and maybe some of you will get pissed off..

when I was a kid, I played alot of point n click adventure games.. I had Space quest 4 and 6, kings quest, day of the tentacle, sam and max, full throttle.. kyrandia.

I never got far with KQ5... and I always thought it was because i missed something... or maybe I didnt understand the language ..I completed Day of the tentacle ... monkey island but never KQ5 or SQ 4 for that matter...

and I decided to pick those up again.... I want to say this.. these games are HORRIBLE ! why the hell are these games so fucking popular ?! Space quest I understand .. the voice over is hilarious... roger is likeable in his goofy ness... but KQ 5 is absolutely stupid... it's cryptic there are NO hints.. absolutely none.. it's trial and error... you die for stupid reason.. like you clicked on it and now graham falls in the river and dies.. what!?! seriously ?!

The reason i'm quite pissed at the moment is because, apparrently I failed to save a rat.. and now I'm missing an item so I can't  progress over the mountains ...so now I have start the entire tedious ordeal all over again..O well.... Sierra point n click adventures are asa far as I'm concerned highly overrated....

I love these games but In all seriousness I do understand the gameplay criticisms though. That being said, I do still feel like there's a lot of value in them with the art, music, VA, and the writing especially. Roberta Williams is a classy lady! :D

Keeping a bajillion saves goin helps I guess haha. KQ5 is probably the worst offender for it as there's lots of things you can miss that totally pwn your game. Might be worth using a guide or at least some subtle tips. Stuff like the 1px coin you need in the bandit's treasure room, etc. I remember KQ6 being a lot more forgiving and KQ7 even more so.

Kinda comes with the territory I guess. I mean... ha... who hasn't set a hundred mechanical bunnies to their death in a minefield amirite? Funny when you do it. Not fun when you're hoarding gd bunnies @_@;

I laughed so hard when you dropped that box and ride of valkyries started playing :) but what you are saying is that I Started with the wrong Kings quest

Mmmmmaybe? The earlier ones I'd say are even less forgiving. I'll replay the series every few years and I still crosscheck guides heavily in em. The remakes are rather nice as well. There's a few places in 6 you can screw yourself if you don't pick something up I think but I don't remember anything super critical being so hard to miss in it. It also has alternate endings which is pretty cool.

I just try to think of the unforgiving nature of them as though it's a simulation. Eg. I guess in real life I'd get wrecked too if I didn't have a pie to throw at the yeti etc etc lol.

My most hated "where the f$%# is it" moment in adventure games: the gd lint in the pocket in The Curse of Monkey Island!
