1- I keep getting this error "Mount Switch Syntax Error" or "unmount switch syntax error" as I boot games from Sega saturn... using latest SSF.

After I dismiss the error the game boots fine... but it never changes the game it keeps the one currently mounted ( as it cannot mount/unmount witht he syntax error) all other consoles works fine tho.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

2- Whenever I tried to boot SSF standalone... it boots to a black screen full screen... but I want to have the menu options on top so I can fiddle and changes some options, anyone knows how to make it reappear? I can make it reappear by deleting the Settings.ini and SSF.ini... but I want to keep my current settings, I just want to modify them... any way to bypass this?? like is there a shortcut key to make the menu appear from a fullscreen SSF bootup?

3rd problem... I TRY to play Panzer Dragoon Saga... and BOY does it crash OFTEN... i keep reading in other forums that everyone played it perfectly from start to finish no problem... while I seems to be crashing ever 2-3 combats, every 15min... it's annoying as hell... anything I can do? Some settings I need to adjust to maximize compatibility? Thanks

Thanks!

I can't help you with your problem but I can tell you this

I hope you realise that the latest version of SSF was released on 2013.

You should consider switching emulators,  Use  Mednafen

https://mednafen.github.io/

it started supporitng Sega Staturn last year,  and its so much better then SSF

- You DON"T NEED A VIRTUAL DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!     this featrure alone should convince you to use Mednafen over SSF

- it supports more tittles,  games that are not playable on SSF

draw back  -->  NO GUI

allot of people do not like Mednafen becasue it does not have a GUI,  very dififcut to configure and run games.

You can download a GUI for it,  but you have Rocketlauncher,  their is no need for one because you are going to use RL to launch your games.

the only command you need to know is  how to configure your joysticks

After you load a game  -->

To configure the virtual device on input port 1, press ALT+SHIFT+1.

For the virtual device on input port 2, press ALT+SHIFT+2.

if you need help configuring the emulator, SimplyAustin has a YouTube tutorial.

I'm with @32assassin. It's good to keep SSF around because it supports up to 12 players simultaneously, which is great for playing 10man Bomberman or the 11-12player homebrews, but other emus are better for general emulation.

Hi and thanks I never used Mednafen before and it feel really good... but using it I now get a new error message;

Launching a game in Hypersin... a Sega Saturn game... using Mednafen as the emulator.. I get Loading 100% complete... then it waits there a while... like 15-20sec then I get a black screen with the following Error message:

"There was a error waiting for the window "ahk_class SDL_app" to become active. Please Check you have correct version emulator installed for this module, followed any notes in the module, and have this emulator working outside your frontend first. Also turn off Fade to see if you are hiding your problem."

I checked the Mednafen video of SimplyAustin and in his video he simply drag drops the Saturn game onto Mednafen.exe and it launches... me... doesnt do anything doing that... I do have the bios files and all... dunno what to do here... I do see a few mentions of "Ahk Class SDL_app" inside the mednafen.ahk file but I dont understand any of it...

Got any clues?

the way you load a game on Mednafen (without a GUI) is to drag and drop a rom into the exe.

if you can't do that,  then the emulator will not work on Hyperspin,

it seems to me that you configured the emulator correctly in RL.  but the emulator is crashing after 15-20 seconds because you are missing the BIOS.

RetroArch has supported Sega Saturn for some time.  But you had to use the Yabause Core,  and you are better of using SSF over that emulator.

if the Mednafen Retroarch core supports Sega Saturn then by all means use Retroarch with the Mednafen core.

in hyperspin? I dont find any tutorial anywhere about this... care to shed light?

RetroArch can emulate a bunch of systems itself. Just need to set it up on RocketLauncher as any other emulator and add the correct bios to the "system" folder. Somewhere in the internet there's a RetroArch Bios Pack.

I do have the Mednafen bios, correctly named... tried both my originals bios and the one SimplyAustin tells us to use in his video, both gave me the same error about "ahk_class SDL_app" now the error message mentions to see about the FADE setting to turn it off... but there is so many settings everywhere... which one should I check out?

I will see after lunch about retroarch if I can set it up... you say I use retroarch emu with the Yabause module?

I would give a try to retroarch, with it you will be able to emulate more than 70 hyperspin systems. So it worth to learn how it works

@teftef Download and uncompress RetroaArch. Point RocketLauncher to the exe. Download bios pack and place it in "system" folder. Execute RetroArch and download all available cores. Try to run games through RocketLauncher.

Bios files qualify as roms and are not to be shared/requested on the site.

Ops! Sorry! didn't know!

So... installed Retroarch... and all bios... set it up in the RTUi...

If I use the Mednafen module... I still get the "ahk_class SDL_app" error... and games dont boot...

If I use the Yabause module... I get both the original error of "Mount Switch Syntax Error" and then I get a new error: "yabause_ahk_Class QWidget" after about 20-30seconds...

tihs is driving me nuts :(

Well I finally gotten to make Mednafen to work... it loads SOME games... for some reason Japanese games still gives me the ahk_app error message... but US games works... I guess I could try to use a Region changer on the Japanese games...

BUT games on mednafen LAGS TERRIBLY OH GOD how can anyone game on this? O_O every videos movies of games runs at about 10FPS and the audio constantly stutter like crazy :( and games... for example Guardian Heros runs at a stable 10fps which is barely playable :(

Using SSF standalone works on all games... PERFECTLY no lags what-so-ever... but using SSF in Hyperspin gives the mount/unmount syntax error... so I really woud like to use SSF instead... but I dunno how to fix that "mount/unmount syntax error"
