Can't create a mamelist.xml

I've tried Don's tools and a few other programs, and I've also tried just running the mame64 command line.  It goes through the whole process but creates a 0 byte xml file and gives some error about there may be a & instead of &amp or just some generic error.

Using Mame 0.188

Any idea?

The one thing I remember about using Dons Tools is to make sure you have the path set to your Mame exe in HyperH, as they are linked.

Well, it appears to launch mame64.exe and I can see it running the entire script thing, but nothing ends up outputting after 30 minutes of it processing.

 

Perhaps this is a Mame .188 problem.
