rmcelwee Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I've been working on this for 3 days so I thought I would ask for help. I am running hyperspin 1.4.16, joytokey 5.9, and hyperlaunchui 1.0.1.10 . Everything was downloaded this week and all upgrades are current. I am building a mame cab and using a zero delay usb encoder hooked to an arcade joystick. I can go into the UI and setup a joytokey configuration on "front end", hyperlaunch, and default. If I go into the keymapper test on each I can see my joystick working just fine but it just doesn't work when launching hyperspin. I can provide logs if needed. The mapping is just the joystick to the arrow keys on the keyboard. Pretty simple stuff. Any ideas? I'm pulling my hair out over here.
RLBradders26 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Have you configured Profile 1 within Joy2Key outside of RL or Hyperspin?
Yeuxkes Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 You will need to start/load the joytokey profile for Hyperspin prior to launching Hyperspin. RocketLauncher does not load anything before you actually launch a game so it will not load the Hyperspin profile untill you launched and quit a game. Create a batch file that points to joytokey and the profile you want to load. In HyperHQ you then set that batch as the startup program under main settings > startup/exit start "c:\joytokey\joytokey.exe " "c:\Rocketlauncher\Profiles\JoytoKey\Hyperspin\Hyperspin.cfg" Obviously you need to change the paths to where you have your files located. Another option is to use Hyperspin Startup Script if you have multiple programs you want to launch before you start Hyperspin. I have for example Hypersearch and Random Video Intro Randomizer configured thru the Startup script and another batch where I kill certain processes like explorer.exe.

I tried to quote both of you at the same time but I don't think I did a great job. Anyway, YES YES YES!!! Everything is fine now. I did NOT have a "good" profile 1 and I did not load joytokey before launching. I had some success from time to time with it (maybe 5%) and now realize that I must have been playing with joytokey and had it minimized each time it actually worked in hyperspin. The intermittent success is what kept me from figuring it out. Thanks guys!!! BTW, that was the first bat file I had made since the late 80's. I'm surprised I still knew how. 3 hours ago, Yeuxkes said: You will need to start/load the joytokey profile for Hyperspin prior to launching Hyperspin.

For future references you can drag and move the quote box wherever you want if you hover over it and go to the top left corner. There's also multiple options if you hold CTRL and right click. Glad you sorted it out in the end. Simple batching to start a program is easy, wait till you want to make a batch that goes through entire directories and subfolders to zip or convert roms to other compressed formats all while keeping the same filename as the original. I've been doing a lot of trial and error on the latter. The rabbit hole goes deep when you want to customize Hyperspin to your preferences
