HS Rom (usa) Delete

Hey everyone ive decided to tackle a hyperspin build. This isint the first time but this is the first time im trying to do it to full completion. That being said i would like to remove the (usa,Japan) from the rom title on the wheel. i have a feeling this is a naming convention issue that will need to be tackled by renaming the rom specifically is that correct? if that is correct...what is the best tool to use for the renaming of the specific rom as well as generate a new XML list to show correctly? or am i way off base with my thought process...

Im not sure on tbe best method but if you are just stripping the region tags i would suggest Notepad++ for the xml

And bulk rename utility for the art and roms

ok cool thanks for the help. Also since i have you around... i do have another question maybe you can give me a hand with. Is there anyway to set up sub menus? for example on my main wheel when i click on "mame" rather than the next wheel being all my games is there a way to have genera's instead such as "fighting, shooter, ...etc" then when i click on "fighter" it will have all my games listed that i put in the "fighter" genera?

I would like to actually sit down over time and do this for EVERY system rather than have to scroll through 800+ NES games i could narrow them down via genera based on what i want to play

I want you to know that

Hyperspin has a very specific naming convention.

Game Tittle (Region),  ALL!!!! your media will be named to this.

if you rename your rom, to "Game Tittle" 

ALL your media will need to be renamed.

All your official XMLs will need to be renamed.

 

it is much easier to rename your roms to fit the Official XMLs as opposed to you using custom names.

especially for a name you will Never see if you have all the corresponding media.

 

the name you see in the lower left corner is pulled form the description in the XML

so you should update the XML so that 

this

    <description>Game Tittle (Region)</description>

becomes this

    <description>Game Tittle</description>

if you don't want to see the region in the descrition

or you can hide the text in HyperHQ.

 

and the only sub menu Hyperspin supports is Genere sub menus,  you can access this by pressing "G"

but you need to split your main XML into Genere XMLs

you can do that with don tools.

 

you can also use a 3rd party apk script to support "Nested" sub menus.

do a search for it here and @ youtube. to find the files you need to accomplish this.
