NOOB QUESTION: why does hyperspin or hyperHQ not work after downloading ?

I downloaded the software on this site and nuthing works when i click on hyperspin application or hyperHQ it does not start up at all ? what exactly do i need to do to get the apps to boot up ? (running windows XP on a laptop)

Not sure of your specs but...

1st - i think you may need SP3 installed to work right on XP.

2nd - there are some other dependencies as well. Dot net framework and visual basic runtimes.

3rd - direct x drivers update.

If it still does not work after that, then I am afraid your video card (on-board I am guessing) is just not good enough.

I'd make sure you have VB runtimes 2001 and 2003 installed.  They (used to) have a lot to do with whether or not HS would run.  Not sure with the 1.5 version how much of the dependencies have been removed, but I'd make sure they are there regardless.

Also, if you are trying to use v1.5 I would recommend using 1.3 instead.  It's been stable right up until the last major Windows 10 update, and the new 1.5 HS version may not be as friendly to older OS's.  V1.3 really likes Win7 and you can get legal keys for that OS cheaply on the internet (<$30).  Might be worth the upgrade.

@ Spawk - BTW - tough luck on hockey this year.  Thought Winnipeg was going to go further in the playoffs but it just didn't work out.

Also, the opening of last night's game 1 in Vegas was one of the most embarrassing things I've ever seen in sports.  What a disaster.
