Don's hyperspin rom renamer

Hi, I have just downloaded and installed Hyperspin, RocketLauncher and Don's Hyperspin ROM Renamer. I have been following the tutorial videos and have been successful up to the point of renaming my roms. I only have MAME installed so far and have downloaded the latest XML file for the ROMS. When I try  and run The renamer tool it does not seem to do anything, the program loads and I tell it the location of the XML (MAME 02/08/2016) in my hyperspin folder, I tell it the address of the Roms folder and I tell it where the  new files should go. when I hit "scan" the new window opens but nothing changes. I tried watching the tutorial again but I feel like I'm missing something. Can anyone help?

Why not just get the Rom set that matches the xml? I doubt anyone here renames their mame set.

you cannot use Dons tools to rename the MAME rom set  or CD base systems.

MAME zip files contain multiple bin files inside.  in some cases the bin name is either rename or deleted from one MAME version to the next.

the MAME Hyperspin XMLs do not contain the necessary info to rename or update the zip contents for MAME roms.

You either need to rebuild your MAME roms with CLRMAME Pro or Romcenter and the proper Dat file.  or better yet download the correct rom set to match

the MAME emulator version you are running.
