The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Navigation in HyperSpin with Joystick and Buttons

I have installed HyperSpin and everything works great with the exception of navigating in the main menu. All I want is to use the joystick to move the wheel up and down (both for the Systems and the games within the systems), and then use the first button of that joystick to select a system/game, and have another button escape out from games to systems or systems out of HyperSpin.

I've been searching these forums and YouTube videos for a couple days trying to figure it out.

I'm using a Paradise Arcade Lono2 with run-of-the-mill lollipop joystick and regular concave pushbuttons attached to it.

I've downloaded Xpadder, but can't find any tutorials of how to configure it for this kind of setup (i.e. not an XBox controller or MadCatz gamepad) since 2015.

Anyone able to help?

open HyperHQ.exe and set your joypad

... But trust me, it would be better to set up xpadder as joystick input might be terrible.

AFAIK the Paradise Lono is not like an ipac. It is usb and recognized as joypads in windows so any tutorial for xbox/mad katz pads will be just fine for you.

I concur with dark13, a keymapper will likely become a necessity. You can try the HS joystick settings but if you find them going crazy while in the wheel, you'll know this is what causes it. Keymappers will cure that from happening and also have other benefits as well like being able to set up pc games that only have keyboard support.

Personally I use JoyToKey, I wrote an ultra quick setup guide in this post:
