The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Hello all,

I have just started to look into this hyperspin and I would really like to have this on my big screen and playing it with controllers.. I am not a Keyboard guy lol.. So I was thinking a mini PC. Im an IT guy and can build a PC easy but I dont want the bulk so I think a mini would do great. Not sure on the recommended specs and so forth I would if anyone can help point me in the right direction. THX

Depends on what you wish to emulate, in general the majority rely and a single core. Look for at least 3.4ghz+ and 4gb ram this will run practically all but the newer consoles such as ps2, wiiu etc

What do you want to play?

Bottom line, you won't be able to build anything as small as Nvidia's Shield TV. You can run Hyperspin on that natively OR use the gamestream feature to remote access your gaming PC (with Hyperspin) on your network (providing it uses an nvidia GPU).

If you want to emulate "everything" then yes you will need a PC. Clock speed and IPC is king when it comes to emulation, cores not so much as bigdic said. So ideally you want an Intel K CPU, so it can run as fast as possible. Trouble is mini-itx motherboards by and large aren't great at over clocking. The small case limits the coolers you can use and ultimately it gets expensive!

I couldn't care less what ETA Prime says in his videos. He was banned from Retropie groups for distributing a ready made image. That in itself doesn't bother me, more that it didn't have video encoding working through the GPU. So many of the video previews didn't play correctly and the Raspberry Pi's CPU was working over time, effectively cooking it!

He would probably say an AMD APU build is what you want. I would disagree, although it's down to you to decide. You seem a sensible sort asking questions before you pull the trigger on a purchase.

I wish you all the best with your Hyperspin project.

Thx for the replies ---

Ideally, I would like to play up to PS2 dont care for the Wii.  If a Nvidea shield could do it I would purchase it right now.
