Old Update looking for advice

Hey guys/gals.

I have been away for a while due to family life etc.

I have an old version of Hyperspin, apart from it being a little laggy, and the wheel not stop spinning i have been getting issues with controls not working the User Interface. When i go into HyperHQ,it sometimes doesnt start (the Program itself) to change the controls. I was going to update my build with the latest Hyperspin update, but i just noticed that it states Windows now breaks Hyperspin, so im hesitant to install anything now....Has this issue been fixed? Is it possible just to download the HyperHQ exe and swap it over to see if it fixes my loading error of controls?

If i was going to update my HS completely is it as simple as draging all the files over and overwriting my old ones? I wont loose Game favourites or games, emulators wont stop working due to a HS update? I was going to test this by copying all my OLD exe files from HS and saving them on backup, then updating to see if it works,if it runs into issues i was going to revert back to the old ones?

Any advice.

Thanks.

I guess it depends on just how old. If it is pre RocketLauncher then no, it won't be as simple as copying over... at least not everything.

The controls navigating HS have always been... quirky when set in HQ. Most people simply disable joystick options in HQ and use the "startup script" or use a keymapper.

Also HQ is often still often loaded into memory (check task manager) even in the newest version. Simply end the task and it will start up on next try.

My advise would be to keep your existing setup and just try a whole new setup on a fresh drive. If it goes bad you can simply revert to it. Or if goes good, you may eventually reclaim that drive.

I've just updated both of my cabinets to latest HS/Mame etc with Windows 10.

Everything is working fine.

I would suggest doing a full reinstall from scratch, that way you know it's the best it can be ;) ..make sure you back up any files you don't want to lose etc

Well it must be old then,it still runs Rocketlauncher,i didnt even know HS doesnt use RL anymore.  lol.

So is the best way to download a new HS setup, the latest and then start moving over Emulators/Roms from my old to the new and test each path is corrrect etc?

We DO use RL today. If you are using RL, then it's not that old. I was saying "pre RL"...  like hyperlaunch!

The "updates" to HS are just the exe's that get replaced... there are no other files to worry about. I am not sure if you even need a new setup now.
