ShaqSleazy Posted August 28, 2021 Posted August 28, 2021 Hi, I'm having troubles to run games like die hard, soul calibur and tekken tag tournament properly. The gameplay and sound stutters. I use hyperspin and the emulator is mame. When i hit F11 when the game is running, i see that the emulation speed drops to 58%. Comp specs: intel core i5 with 8GB RAM My videocard is a NVIDIA GTX 980 and my monitor is a LG 27MP59G. Do i have a problem with my hardware or a problem with the emulation in mame and can i do something about it? Thanks in advance!

Looks like the specs on your PC are not good enough to run certain games full speed. Also, keep in mind that not all games, especially newer ones on MAME run at full speed no matter what PC you have.

I really thought my comp specs should be able to handle the games i mentioned. I understand that this is not the case with newer games but what is the bottle neck? The processor? Or more RAM?

The first i5 were not that good and some of them were dualcore with TERRIBLE multithreading single core performance, they are ok only starting from 2XXX serie (2011 cpus anyway). My i5 4460 can run tekken tag without problem. With latest MAME system 11/system 12 emulation needs more power, you can try something like 0.198. Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin

Can you try mame on Retroarch (it needs a bit more power compared to standalone mame). I have that kind of performance on latest mame and a q6600 so it is not normal. Check temperatures, maybe they are too hot and the cpu is throttling. If i do that the loading screen appears and immediately disappears
