Asparky Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 With the up come court case, Nintendo vs Yuzu, could mean the End of Emulation. Nintendo is tying to prove that Emulation, encourages Piracy and their company is losing money because of it. This is typical Ninendo, they have tried to get Rom Sites hosting their Roms shut down, but that hasnt realy worked, so they are now going after Emulation.... 1
Andyman Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 The end of emulation for current systems, maybe. I've always felt that current-system emulator developers are a little suicidal. I admire their work, but holy jeez, they court disaster. 1
Asparky Posted February 29, 2024 Author Posted February 29, 2024 Just read a Report, about Ninendo. It appears they will be going after PPSSPP next...... https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2024/02/how-strong-is-nintendos-legal-case-against-switch-emulator-yuzu/
Andyman Posted February 29, 2024 Posted February 29, 2024 Probably because a port of it is on the Switch, I'd guess. It's not an official port, though.
Asparky Posted March 5, 2024 Author Posted March 5, 2024 Well its Happened Yuzu and Citra are no more. Yuzu ended up paying Nintendo $2,000,000 in the end..Watch the remaining Emulators Slowly Disappear...
Andyman Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 I imagine development for both will continue on, but underground. It's not like the judgment will stop either one from being available, anyway.
Asparky Posted March 6, 2024 Author Posted March 6, 2024 The Clones have started already. It looks like Nintendo have shot themselves in the foot.......LOL On a side note, watch out for Malware in those Clones... 1
pademonium Posted March 27, 2024 Posted March 27, 2024 The end of emulation not really .. Same if the Switch is at the end of its life, has sold like hotcakes and broken records, and Nintendo is waking up for who knows what reason. And even The Last Zelda was a hit like never before. We can't say that Yuzu damaged Nintendo by preventing the console from selling for me it serves to put the balls on the table (and anticipated the arrival of the new console..Who would a priori have an architecture quite close to the switch: yuzu also running on steamdeck it was the straw that broke the camel's back I think it's just a call to order to discourage those who would like to try the adventure on a new machine) 6 years before starting a procedure while the emulator is already very well optimized for me it is also a bit of a sword in the water... Anyway!! Ryujinx is still standing / other teams will take over the project is open source so other smart people could take over the source code it's endless.. . Cut off the head of a hydra and 4 grow back... I don't worry about team yuzu being able to pay 2.4 million dollars without batting an eyelid and without going to trial, I think the word get rich is still rather weak. But just forcing a company to stop its development on an emulator knowing that from one country to another the law around the legality of using an emulator differs, I wonder how this is possible...
shredder Posted November 13, 2024 Posted November 13, 2024 As a long time emulator advocate, Good. Emulation has always been shadow IT and should be, it just does not make sense for a shadow to be in front of or equal to the thing that it's trying to replicate. It destroys the thing that we love then in the end we're all just swimming in darkness. This is nintendo's way of a saying..."Hey, stop it. To these overly ambitious devs" that just like to shit shovel. Have you SEEN the latest emu's for modern consoles? They have a fancy gui, but require seemingly endless maintenance and they work half-assed at best if you're so lucky as to get that far. I am mostly speaking to my latest experience at moving to PS3 emulation...geesh. I say, hold off for a while...stay 1-2 consoles back from current gen consoles until it is no longer profitable for the business and then the dev's have additional time to release a better version of their factory 2 emulators, instead of releasing buggy ass ones and letting end users find them and complain about them. The whole 'it's not a problem until it's a problem' philosophy from devs is getting rather old. I prefer good craftsmanship.
