Hey Gang!

Looking in the media folder of HS2, I noticed all media no longer has the rom name affiliated with it, but a long line of numbers and letters. Why is that?

If it's a programmer's thing then that's way above my paygrade lol

I would have thought since HS1.X media, Emumovies etc. all referenced media from the corresponding rom name going into HS2.

Figured I'd ask.

you can manually manage your media by placing your HS1 media in the following location

HyperSpin\media\Systems\_overrides

I noticed allot of synced media that is incorrect because of the incorrectly scraped meta data.

I only sync the themes.

I dont know for sure the real reason for the long names but i do remember a discussion with BadBoyBill in a hotel room at Cal Extreme maybe 15 years+ ago.

He wanted to add to the old HS, "crc" naming to all art, making it unmistakably official and counter-intuitively easier to match rom names to it without all the fatmatch, fuzzy match hoop jumping.

You can use the old method to make use of hs1 artwork with the overrides folder that's inside the media folder. And yes, the sync system uses a serialized system to identify each piece of artwork that hs2 downloads on sync... also above my pay grade lol
