newoski Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 Hi Guys, I'm running into screen tearing in HyperSpin themes. I'm running an i5-4670K and a GTX660 GPU. I have the latest drivers for everything and I have the latest version of Flash installed. Monitor is 1280x1024 and I've tried 1280x1024 and 800x600 for my HS resolution. Any recommended solutions? Owen
albert_c Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Is your system equipped with dual Intel graphics along with the GTX660? When you find great deals on Craigslist for CRT based cabs, exuberance can be a bad thing! Current status of cabs: 0/5 working as desired :wallbash:
newoski Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 I'm only using the one monitor, via DVI, of that's what you're asking
albert_c Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Some systems have integrated Intel graphics along with discrete graphics installed. General Windows functionality uses the lower power Intel graphics and graphics intensive applications will use the discrete higher power graphics card. If this is your system, you can right click the app and instruct Windows to run HyperSpin to use the discreet graphics rather than the Intel graphics. There are some known issues Intel graphics. But just wanted to get an idea of what your hardware is. Your issue could be anything. The themes are Flash based. Go into HyperHQ and adjust the processing priority settings. Possibly disable some of the artwork levels until you find the problem. Update your drivers. Download a codec pack. newoski Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 albert, Not sure we're on the same page here. Unless I'm missing something, codecs wouldn't help as it is flash, not conventional video. I have the latest version of flash and java (not sure if that's necessary). Additionally, I don't think discrete vs integrated matters, because I have the GTX660, right? I am on the latest drivers.
Nickelberryboy Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 I recently figured out I can get rid of all the screwn tearing issues by turning on vsync in all my emulators, maybe there's a vsync option for your graphics card.
albert_c Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Seen this before, but with Flash video/movies. Was a Flash/Nvidia driver issue. Nickelberry is right. You'll need to enable Vsync. Forgot how I fixed it but found a thread here about it: https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=160454 See if that helps. newoski Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 Sadly, no. I'm trying a fresh install of OS now...
Nexus23 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Hi, same issue with my notebook. I have 2 GPU on is for high end other for Dektop use. Right click on Hyperspin.exe and run it with high Power Graphic prozessor. That fixed the problem for me.
newoski Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 Good idea, but that only applies to laptops. Nvidia Control Panel doesn't have that option for Desktop users.
newoski Posted October 9, 2014 Author Posted October 9, 2014 OK, so after more troubleshooting than I'll ever care to admit... I finally solved this. Simply switch to Windows Aero. Fixed it immediately, without needing to change anything else. Hope this helps someone in the future
