rxmarcus Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Hey guys, Was wondering if anyone knows what the most recently made HyperSpin setup tutorials might be? Just getting started and have found myself using old information and not being successful because of it. If anyone has links or information to the most recent tutorials that might exist it would be appreciated. Thanks
Fromlostdays Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Hyperspin.exe is as easy as downloading. The only thing you have to be aware of is the directories, and HyperHQ for adding systems / tweaking some options. The most important directories are the database and media folder. You will need to provide an xml database for each system, and your media will have to be placed in the media/[system name]/[Relevant Folder] That's pretty much the skinny on HyperSpin, which is the front end and takes care of all the "looks". Equally if not more important is the back-end, HyperLaunch. You'll find much more relevant information on the latter. This is the program that lets you actually LAUNCH games. suspendedhatch Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 The only things I can think of that would have changed since the tutorials are: setting up GIT updates moving HyperLaunch outside the HyperSpin folder And if you are using an xbox360 controller then Ghutch's startup script is essential.
rxmarcus Posted January 22, 2015 Author Posted January 22, 2015 Great, thank you for all the helpful tips.
Fromlostdays Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Actually here is a site I made with a lot of links put together. I probably should have finished it, but as you'll soon find out, you're going to want to be a programmer, scripter, and digital artist by the time you're through with this hobby:D http://onestophyperspin.weebly.com/links.html Walter:beerglass:
8BitMonk Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 Where'd the Docs section in the main nav go? Some of that info was still pertinent.
Fromlostdays Posted January 22, 2015 Posted January 22, 2015 It's been offline forever. I'm not sure. It was definitely good to get a feel for how the directories work. Walter:beerglass:
8BitMonk Posted January 24, 2015 Posted January 24, 2015 Yeah the generic stuff was still very helpful, especially for new users. Looks like you can still get to it on the web archive Wayback Machine. http://web.archive.org/web/20120112024744/http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=112&Itemid=124
