The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

been searching this and i see a few methods but they are all from previous versions of hyperspin or really old posts. I tried to filter by rom in hyperHQ but i have a few bugs, if i open sega genesis hyperspin just exits. Daphne i only have Dragon's lair(with dvd) and i have a full wheel of the dragon's lair entries(not sure if this is a result of a setting of X amount of entries and only having one rom just repeats the one i have)

I also came across a suggestion of doing a dir /b and creating a favorites.txt and only showing favorites. The method of manual deleting each entry in the xml sounds tedious...

what is the best/fastest way to accomplish this?

Hyperspin repeatedly lists games on your wheel if you don't have enough games on your xml list to fill a wheel. As for creating an xml, I use ROM2XML to do this (I'm sure it will still be available somewhere to download if you search for it). It makes a list of everything in your rom folder. Just make sure you temporarily move any non-rom files from the folder (like game saves) while you run the program because it makes a link to things that aren't games too. Definitely beats manually editing lists though.

Btw, there may be newer, better alternatives to ROM2XML around now, but this simple little program is what I use and it still works.

I don't know why Genesis is closing down Hyperspin. Have you changed any part of your theme before it started doing this? Just guessing but it could be that if you've changed something.

the problem with HyperROM2XML is that it will not add any of the extra information found in the XMLs.

if you use the rom filter option in HyperHQ, you have to make sure you add the rom paths and extensions in HyperHQ.

the CD based systems does have a bug. The bug only happens if you have your roms in a sub-folder.

example

Rom path/

Gamename/

Gamename.iso (bin,cue, ect.)

what you should do is do what I did, I filter by wheels

this only works if you have a full set of wheels.

simply

- enable filter by wheels

- move the wheels of the games you don't want to a sub folder inside the wheel art

-done

if you like to add the game you simple add the wheel art to your wheel folder.

Their is no need to make a new XML with all the missing information, or a need to add any rom paths or extensions in HyperHQ.

cool, thanks for the replies. what i wound up doing was using don's list generator(i think thats what its called) and just choosing the roms i wanted and exported the list and wrote over the .xml from hyperlist, only issue is still the dragon's lair being the only rom filling up the wheel, but i can live with that
