Ibanezmike Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 Hey everyone, I am having some troubles with Mednafen. I downloaded the latest version (Mednafen 0.9.38.2 - February 16, 2015) on two different computers and get the same problem, which is that the mednafen.exe wont execute at all, it isn't even listed in the task manager. The first time I moved the contents of the zip archive into my emulators folder and ran the exe, it created a few folders and files but didnt run the program at all. Anyone else having this problem or am I doing something wrong? Thanks -Mike
32assassin Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 mednafen is a command line emulator, if you like to run it on a window you need to install a GUI for it. or run it in a command line prompt. lucky for you you don't need to do any of that because you have Hyperlaunch. if you like to run a game outside of Hyperspin/launch, you need to drag and drop a rom into the Mednafen.exe similar to what this guy does at 3:40 the only thing you need to know is ALT+Shift+1 --> configure P1 controls Alt+Shift + 2 --> configure P2 controls mednafen-0.9.38.2-win64\firmware\(Place all your bios here) Atary Lynx :lynxboot.img Turbografix: SYSCARD.pce Playstation: PSX - (all of them)
Ibanezmike Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 Thanks for the quick reply. I have downloaded and fiddled around with MedGui1.99995 and keep getting this message: "This MedGui version is only compatible with Mednafen 0.9.XX or upper series. You have selected a incompatible rom or you have set a wrong option in the guui, press abort to see the log output or press OK to download the last Mednafen version." I will try to attach the error log but I have no idea if it will work or not. I have also clicked OK and it showed a progress bar and downloaded files from somewhere and put them in my mednafen folder but I still get the same message when I try again. I can ger Basketbrawl to work but I have tried around 20 others that give me the message stated earlier.
guyverjay Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 don't bother with that gui, you don't need one if you are using hyperlaunch.
Ibanezmike Posted February 27, 2015 Author Posted February 27, 2015 don't bother with that gui, you don't need one if you are using hyperlaunch. I have tried launching alot of games from hyperspin but keep getting an error message saying the AHK file took too long to load or something, I can get the whole message if needed but the only game I have been able to get working is Basketbrawl. I don't think i mentioned this but I am trying to get the Atari Lynx working, if that makes a difference. I have tried putting the bios in a "firmware" folder in the mednafen directory but it comes up with an error message saying it needs to be in the mednafen directory. So I moved it to the mednafen root directory and it works with Basketbrawl and every other game I've tried gets the previous mentioned errors.
Fromlostdays Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 It does make a difference. I'm not 100 percent clear on why this is, but MANY atari lynx rom dumps don't play well with mednafen. I went through a bunch before I found one that worked. Its something to do with the "header" or something, I remember reading. Also they are right, forget the gui. Reinstall fresh (obviously keeping the firmware) and set it up for another system first so you know its working. Walter:beerglass:

"\firmware\lynxboot.img","Cannot find the Atari Lynx bios file required to use this system:`n" . emuPath . "\firmware\lynxboot.img")
Ibanezmike Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 I ended up getting another set of roms and it all works fine now, but thanks for all the help.
